To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, THOMAS F. SoMERs, a citizen of the United States, and resident of New York, in the county and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Combined Waist and Hose Supporters, of which the following is a specification.

This invent-ion relates to a combined waist and hose supporter. The Specific form shown in the application is a childs waist made of elastic knitted material, having upvwardly extending reinforcing ribs of similar knitted material.

One of the objects of the invention iS to avoid the use of rubber or Similar substances in the hose supporter, and it also contemplates making the hose supporter i11- tegral with the reinforcing ribs on the waist, and of such material as to have the requisite elasticity.

The novel features of the invention will be apparent from the following description taken in connection with the accompanying drawings.

The device as shown in the drawing is composed of a body portion 1 of any ordinary construction, and is preferably made of elastic knitted material, and opens inthe front as shown. On this waist there are vertical reinforcing and strengthening ribs 2 which are also made of elastic knitted material and which extend over the Shoulders and are provided with buttons 3 for supporting other garments. At 'each Side of the waist there is a vertically extending reinforcing rib lwhich passes around over the shoulder of the waist and which also passes down below the lower edge 5 extending in the form of a continuous loop 6,

f whichm extended loop constitutes the hose supporter. This reinforcing rib and extended loop 6 being made of tubular knitted fabric as shown in Figs. 2 and 3 has considerable elasticity, and when the hose supporter is attached to the lower end there will be sufficient give in the material tol make it unnecessary to use any rubber elastic section for the hose supporter. Since the rib extends over the shoulder and is continuous embodying no loose end to ravel, the hose supporter will have considerable strength, the pull being carried directly to the shoulder of the wearer. The hooks or clamps 7 are secured to the lower end of the'extension 6 by any suit-able means such as a buckle .8, and it will be seen that they are tol be clamped directly to the hose. By this construction the hose supporter is a part of the garment and goes to the laundry with it and it embodies no rubber or Similar material which would be injured by exposure to water, and I find that the knitted supporter retains its elasticity much longer than that embodying rubber.

Having thus described the invention, what is claimed is: y

l. In a device of the class described, the combination with a body portion, of tubular knitted strengthening strips having elasticity secured thereto vertically and extending below the body portion to form hose supporters. v

2. In a device of the class described, the combination with a body portion, of tubular knitted Strengthening strips having elasticity secured thereto vertically extending over the shoulder portions and projecting considerablybelow the body portion to form hose supporters.

3. In ay device of the ,class described, the combination With a body portion, ofV tubular knitted strengthening strips having elastic` ity secured thereto vertically and extending in continuous loops below the body portion to form hose supporters.

4. In a device of the class described, the combination with a body portion, of tubular knitted strengthening strips having elasticity Secured thereto vertically at the sides, extending over the shoulder portions and project-ing below the bottom edge of the body portion in the form of a continuous loop to'iform hose Supporters.
