NETHERGARMENT.
Specification of Letters latent.
Patented hliay 8, i917.
Application filed January 26, 1917. Serial No. 144,697.
To all yt'rlwm 'it may concern Be it known that i, ANTONI Ciusnnr, a subject of the Czar et Russia, residing at Lorain, in the county of Lorain and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful improvements in Nethergarments, of which the following is a speciication.
rhis invention relates to garments and has special reference to a nether garment. More particularly the invention relates to trousers.
Une important object oit the invention is te provide an improved construction ot trousers which are so arranged that means l are provided whereby bagging at the knees or the trousers is prevented in a novel and improved manner.
A second important object of the invention is to provide an improved construction of trousers having certain attachments thereto which will permit and effect drawing up of the trousers upon the wearer assuming a seated position.
A. third important object of the invention is to provide an interior attachment for trousers of novel construction which, dur-l ing wear of the trousers will act, when the wearer assumes a seated position, to draw the trousers up and prevent knees being i formed while the attachment may be detached for the purpose of pressing the trousers when desired.
lVith the above and other objects in view, as will be hereinafter apparent the invention consists in general of certain novel details of construction and combinations of parts hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the. accompanying drawing, and specifically claimed.
In the accompanying drawing, like characters oi reference indicate like parts in the several views, andr- Figure l is a front elevation of a pair of trousers constructed in accordance with this invention.
Fig. 2 is a longitudinal median' section through one leg of the trousers, the section being broken away in parts.
Fig. 3 is a transverse section on the line 3 3 of Fig. l.
Fig. 4: is a view similar to'Fig. 2 but showing the condition of the trousers when the wearer is seated.
Fig. 5 is an enlarged detail section of the upper end of the trouser leg showing the arrangement to enable the elastic element used herewith to be detached.
in carrying out the objects of the invention in the form herein illustrated there is shown a pair of trousers having legs or other like non-adhering material and i this lining is secured at its lower end by means of a stitched line i3. Furthermore, on either side ot the 'iront median line ot each leg the lining is secured to the leg by n stitched line l-i so that a pocket l5 :is formed between the lining and the front ot the leg. At the upper and lower end of each leg, and in'alinement with the pocket l5 there is provided a loop 16 which is tixedly secured in position so that it may receive the spring hooks 17 which are Elxedly connected to the upper and lower ends of a strip of elastic webbing 18. This elastic webbing has its warp threads of rubber or other elastic material while the woot threads are formed of some such material as wool or the like so that the webbing will adhere to the material of the'trousers inside of the legs.
New it will be seen'that by reason of the slippery lining of each leg the upper part of each leg may move freely over the under garments since it will not adhere thereto. At the same time when the wearer sits down the elastic webbing will adhere to the material of the trousers to a sufficient extent to draw the front of the trousers upward as shown in Fig. 4 while at the same time the elasticity et the webbing will permit of sutiicient yielding to prevent any undue stress being placed on the material of the trousers which tends to tear it. It will be obvious that when a person arises the knee will no longer force the webbing into intimate contact with the material of the trousers and consequently the trousers will drop and resume their original position.
There has thus been provided a simple and eiiicient garment oi the-kind described and for the purpose specified.
lt is obvious that many minor changes may be made in the form and construction of the invention without departing from the material principles thereof. t is not therefore desired to conine the invention to Cil the eXaet form herein shown and described but it is wished to include all such as properly come Within the scope Claimed.
Having thus described the invention, what is claimed as new, iscl. The Combination with a pair o: trousers; of a lining for the legs of said trousers constructed of non-adherent material and terminating above the knee portion of the trouser legs, said lining being secured at its lower end portions to said legs and being further secured to the trouser 'legs on. each side of the fro-nt median line of eaeh leg to forni a pocket in connection with the material of the trousers, and elastio nfebbings each extending through a pocket and down the liront of a trouser leO,
aeh webbing being seeured at its upper and lower ends to the trousers, the Warp threads of said Webbings being of elastic.
material and the Woof threads being ""fl f lt-"lltltllt ioimer o ma elia acap eo o at ieie o the material oi the trousers.
2. The combination with a pair of trou- Gopies of this patent may be obtained for sers; of a lining 'for the legs of said trousers constructed of non-adherent material and terminating above the knee portion of the trouser legs, said lining being secured at its lower end portions to said legs and being further secured te the trouser legs on each side of the front median line of eaeh leg to form a pocket in connection with the material of the trousers, and elastic Webbngs eaeh extending through a pocket and dou'n the front of a trouser leg, the Warp threads of said Webbings being ot elastic material and the Woof threads being formed of material ladapted to adhere to the material of the trousers, loops iixed at the top and bottom seams of the trousers, and hooks Carried by the ends of the Webbings and engaging the loops.
In testimony whereof l have allixed my signature.
