Abstract
Bir depolama ortamı (11) üzerine bilgiyi kaydetmek için bir cihaz depolama ortamını formatlamak için düzenlenir. Cihaz bir protokol (ATA/ ATAPI) uyarınca bir format komutunu alır. Cihaz format komutu uyarınca bir çok-katmanlı depolama ortamını formatlamak için formatlama araçlarına sahiptir. Formatlama, kontrol bölgeleri arasında bir seçilmiş büyüklüğün bir halkasal veri bölgesini oluşturmak için, çok-katmanlı depolama ortamının her katmanı (L0, L1) üzerinde, katman üzerindeki bir birinci radyal konumda bir birinci kontrol bölgesinin (71, 72) ve katman üzerindeki bir ikinci radyal konumda bir ikinci kontrol bölgesinin (73, 74) kaydedilmesini içerir. Eğer format büyüklüğü depolama ortamı üzerindeki maksimum sağlanabilir bir büyüklükten daha küçük ise, radyal olarak karşılık gelen halkasal veri bölgelerini (75, 76) oluşturmak için, kontrol bölgeleri önemli derecede eşit radyal konumlar üzerinde konumlandırılırlar. Gerek duyulan format büyüklüğü her halkasal veri bölgesinin seçilmiş büyüklüklerinin toplamına eşit olur.
