Abstract

Prolifererende eller prolifererte multipotente neurale stamceller og deres avkom blir benyttet for å produsere et CNS-modellsystem for studiet av neural utvikling og fiink- sjon og for bestemmelse av CNS-defekter av nye terapeutika og andre biologiske mid- ler. De neurale stamcellene blir oppbådd fra små mengder av enten normalt eller sykt CNS-vev fra pre- og postnatale individer. Oppfinnelsen tillater fremskaffelse av større mengder vev som kan være kJonalt avledet for å begrense variabilitet og bli generert fra en relativt liten mengde CNS-vev. Oppfinnelsen beskriver et CNS-modellsystem hvor- ved det differensierte avkom av neurale stamceller inkluderer multiple typer CNS-celler, inkludert neuroner, astrocytter og oligodendrocytter.
