Abstract
Preparat som oppviser enzymatisk aktivitet, omfat- tende en vesentlig del a-L-arabinofuranosidase- aktivitet, som har egenskapen å delignifisere tre- masse ved en pH på 8-9 og en temperatur på 65'C, er beskrevet. Nevnte preparat kan fremskaffes ved aerobisk fermentering av en Bacillus stearothermo- philus-stamme valgt fra den deponerte stamme NCIMB 40494 samt mutanter og varianter derav. Den depo- nerte stamme samt mutanter og varianter derav er omfattet av oppfinnelsen. En fremgangsmåte ved fremstilling av nevnte preparat, en fremgangsmåte omfattende behandling av tremasse med nevnte prepa- rat og tremasse som har blitt behandlet med nevnte preparat, samt også nevnte preparat i assosiasjon med et preparat som oppviser enzymatisk aktivitet dannet av en annen mikrobiell stamme og som har egenskapen å delignifisere tremasse ved en tempera- tur på 65"C og en pH på minst 9, er beskrevet. Anvendelse av et enzym uttrykt av den deponerte stamme og o-L-arabinofuranosidase som omfatter en eller to angitte partialsekvenser og homologer derav, er også innbefattet.
