Description
Foreliggende oppfinnelse angår en katalysator for partiell oksydasjon av metan eller en gassformig blanding som inneholder metan, samt anvendelse av katalysatoren for fremstilling av hydrogen eller blandinger av CO/C02/H2, det vil si blandinger av CO og H2som eventuelt inneholder C02, men i hovedsak karbonmonoksyd og hydrogen, og som er kjent som syntesegasser. Den gassformige blanding som inneholder metan kan være naturgass eller gass sammen med olje.
Syntesegass fremstilles konvensjonelt fra naturgass
enten ved dampreformering ved en temperatur på ca. 900°C og ved et trykk mellom 2 0 og 3 0 bar, i nærvær av en nikkelbasert katalysator, eller ved partisiell oksydasjon med oksygen ved høy temperatur (> 1200°C) og under trykk (20 til 30 bar) i spesielle brennere.
I EP 303 438 beskrives en fremgangsmåte for partiell oksydasjon av hydrokarboner til hydrogen og karbonoksyder. I denne prosess anvendes damp i tillegg til oksygen og proses-
sen finner sted ved høy temperatur, det vil si mellom 870 og 1040°C og ved et trykk på 2 til 3 MPa. Blandingen som dannes inneholder imidlertid i hovedsak hydrogen og karbondioksyd og er utarmet på karbonmonoksyd. Selektiviteten mot CO avtar videre når det partielle vanntrykk og/eller temperaturen senkes.
Nylig har Green et al (Catalysis Today 13, 417, 1992; GB
2 239 406) vist at det var mulig å katalysere den partielle
oksydasjonsreaksjon av metan ved hjelp av overgangsmetaller,
så som Ni, Ru, Rh, Pd, Pt og Ir, anbrakt på inerte oksyder.
Ved lav temperatur, det vil si mellom 380 og 780°C og ved et trykk mellom 1 og 20 bar, er det blitt oppnådd høye utbytter av syntesegass på denne måte. Blant de katalysatorer som er studert av de ovenfor nevnte forfattere fører formuleringer med Eu2I*"207°9Pr2Ru2°7^il ^e høyeste aktiviteter. Disse aktiviteter avtar imidlertid betydelig ved korte kontakttider (W.J.M. Vermeiren et coil., Catalysis Today, 13, 442, 1992). Videre ødelegges under testen den blandede oksydstruktur av
den pyroklore type for disse formuleringer og som forekommer før den katalytiske test, noe som fører til metalliske par-tikler dispergert på oksyd av sjeldne jordelementer som ut-gjør det aktive sted ved omdannelsesreaksjonen for metan
(eller naturgass) til syntesegass (Ashcroft et coil., Catalysis Letters 8, 169, 1991) .
Det er nå blitt oppdaget en katalytisk blanding som er stabil ved lave temperaturer under et reaksjonsmedium og som fører til et høyt utbytte av hydrogen eller syntesegass CO/C02/H2, og som i hovedsak inneholder karbonmonoksyd og hydrogen, ved den partielle oksydasjon av metan eller en gassformig blanding som inneholder metan, så som naturgass eller gass sammen med olje. Denne partielle oksydasjon gjen-nomføres ved hjelp av minst ett oksydasjonsmiddel valgt fra gruppen som består av oksygen, luft og karbondioksyd, idet nitrogen eventuelt er forbundet med oksydasjonsmidlet, under relativt milde betingelser.
Katalysatoren i henhold til oppfinnelsen har sammensetningen LnxA]__yBy03, hvor 0 < x < 10 og 0 < y < 1, og den har en krystallinsk struktur av perovskitt-type og er fortrinnsvis stabil under et reaksjonsmedium, idet Ln er minst ett element valgt innenfor gruppen som utgjøres sjeldne jordelementer med atomnummer mellom 57 og 71, inklusive strontium og vismut, det vil si minst ett element valgt fra elementer fra gruppe IIIb, så som La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Pm, Sm, Eu, Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er, Tm, Yb, Lu, strontium og vismut, og på foretrukket måte blant elementene La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Sm, Eu, Dy, Ho og Er, og mer foretrukket blant elementene La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Sm, og hvor A og B, som er forskjellige fra hverandre, er metaller valgt fra gruppene IVb, Vb, VIb, Vllb og VIII, det vil si gruppen som utgjøres elementene Ti, Zr, Hf, V, Ni Ta, Ho, Cr, Mo, W, Mn, Te, Re, Fe, Os, Rh, Ir, Ni, Pd og Pt, fortrinnsvis fra gruppene IVb, VIb og VIII, så som elementene valgt fra gruppen som utgjøres av Ti, Zr, Hf, Cr, Mo, W, Fe, Ru, Os, Co, Rh, Ir, Ni, Pd og Pt, og fortrinnsvis blant elementene Ti, Cr, Fe, Ru, Co, Rh og Ni, og mer foretrukket blant elementene Fe, Co og Ni, og enda mer foretrukket blant elementene Fe og Ni. Ln representerer etter valg flere forskjellige elementer og Ln representerer fortrinnsvis høyest tre forskjellige elementer. En foretrukket sammensetning ifølge oppfinnelsen er LaxFe1_yNiy03hvor x er et tall slik at 0 < x < 10 og y er et tall slik at 0 < y < 1.
Røntgenstrålediffraksjon kan anvendes for å karak-terisere perovskittfåsene. Røntgenstrålediagrammene av hver prøve tas f.eks. opp på et Siemens D50 0 goniometer under anvendelse av Ko^-linjen for kobolt. Studie av røntgenstråle-dif f raks jonsdiagrammene tilkjennegir de karakteristiske lin-jene for perovskittfaser, som en funksjon av katalysatorens sammensetning.
Katalysatoren i henhold til oppfinnelsen kan fremstilles ved hjelp av hvilken som helst kjent metode, så som samutfel-ling, impregnering, en sol/gel-metode eller ved mekanisk blanding av oksyder eller forløpere til oksyder av de forskjellige elementer, fulgt av kalsinering. Foretrukne frem-stillingsmetoder for katalysatorene er spesielt de metoder som er beskrevet i patentsøknader GB-A-1 282 307 og FR-90/16212.
En annen foretrukket fremgangsmåte for katalysator-fremstilling består av at det fremstilles en vandig løsning S som inneholder løselige forbindelser av de forskjellige elementer Ln og/eller A og/eller B i mengdeforhold som tilsvarer mengdeforholdene i den ønskede formulering. Forbindelsene som det er mulig å anvende ved denne fremstillingsmetode velges f.eks. fra gruppen som består av halogenider, nitrater, ace-tater, sulfater og hvilke som helst andre uorganiske eller metallorganiske derivater som inneholder disse elementer.
Til løsningen S tilsettes så en løsning T som inneholder en kompleksdannende syre oppløst i vann og litt i overskudd i sammenligning med den mengde som er adekvat for kompleksdan-nelse av alle elementer Ln, A og B og for at de skal felles ut. Syrene som er anvendbare for denne fremstillingsmetode er kompleksdannende syrer, så som sitronsyre, vinsyre eller oksalsyre.
Restløsemidlet skilles så enten fra ved filtrering eller det dampes inn til tørrhet og den utvunnede felling tørkes ved en temperatur mellom 20 og 200°C og kalsineres så, f.eks. under en strøm av luft eller nitrogen til en temperatur mellom 200°C og 900°C.
Katalysatoren i henhold til oppfinnelsen kan etter valg tilformes ved hjelp av hvilken som helst kjent prosess, f.eks. ved ekstrudering, dråpekoagulering, drage-danne1se, pelletisering eller spraytørking. Etter tilformingstrinnet gjennomgår katalysatoren eventuelt til slutt en termisk aktivering (eventuelt tørking og så kalsinering) ved de foran nevnte driftsbetingelser.
Katalysatoren fremstilt i henhold til driftsfremgangs-måtene ifølge oppfinnelsen og beskrevet i det foregående er spesielt egnet for anvendelse i prosesser for fremstilling av minst én gass valgt fra gruppen som utgjøres av hydrogen og blandinger av CO, C02og H2og som i hovedsak inneholder karbonmonoksyd og hydrogen, ved partiell oksydasjon ved hjelp av minst et element valgt fra gruppen som utgjøres av oksygen, luft og karbondioksyd. Til dette element tilsettes eventuelt nitrogen, metan eller en gassformig blanding som inneholder metan, så som naturgass eller gass i kombinasjon med olje, under relativt milde betingelser.
Foreliggende oppfinnelse angår således en fremgangsmåte
for fremstilling av syntesegasser fra metan eller en gass-
formig blanding som inneholder metan, i nærvær av en katalysator fremstilt i henhold til oppfinnelsen.
Katalysatoren for fremstilling av syntesegassen anvendes normalt under følgende betingelser. Katalysatoren føres inn i en reaktor, bringes i kontakt med den reaktive gass og så forhøyes langsomt omgivelsestemperaturen til reaksjonstempe-ratur, det vil si med en oppvarmingshastighet f.eks. mellom 0,1 og 3°C pr. minutt, og fortrinnsvis mellom 0,5 og 1°C pr. minutt.
Den reaktive gass består av en blanding av metan eller
gass som inneholder metan, og oksygen og/eller luft og/eller C02til hvilken nitrogen eventuelt tilsettes. Forholdet CH4:(02+C02) overskrider fortrinnsvis 0,5 og er mer spesielt
lik eller høyere enn 1. Omdannelsen av denne reaktive gass til syntesegass finner sted under et totalt trykk som normalt er mellom 0,1 og 5 MPa og fortrinnsvis mellom 0,1 og 1 MPa. Temperaturen er lav, det vil si generelt mellom 3 00 og
1000°C, fortrinnsvis mellom 500 og 900°C og enda mer foretrukket mellom 500 og 800°C.
Romhastigheten er normalt mellom IO<3>og 2-IO<5>volum-
andeler av reaktiv gass pr. volumandel katalysator pr. time
og er fortrinnsvis mellom 5.10<3>og 5-i0<4>volumandeler reaktiv gass pr. volumdel katalysator og pr. time.
Katalysatoren i henhold til oppfinnelsen er spesielt aktiv og stabil ved lav temperatur ved den partielle oksydasjonsreaksjon for metan eller en gassformig blanding som inneholder metan, for fremstilling av hydrogen eller syntesegass .
De følgende eksempler illustrerer oppfinnelsen uten å begrense dens ramme.
Eksempel 1: Katalysator A La-|_Nio t 2Feo, 8°3 •
En løsning S fremstilles ved å løse opp 93,5 g lantan-nitrat-heksahydrat, 12,5 g nikkelnitrat-heksahydrat og 60,5 g jernnitrat-heksahydrat i 200 ml vann. En løsning T fremstilles separat ved å løse opp 92 g oksalsyre. Tilsetningen av løsning T til løsning S ved 25°C og ledsaget av omrøring fører til dannelse av en blandet oksalatutfelling av lantan, jern og nikkel.
Etter langsom fordamping av det resterende løsemiddel oppnås et gult pulver som tørkes i 16 timer ved 120°C og som så kalsineres til 800°C ved en temperatur-forhøyningshastig-het på 3°C pr. minutt, hvoretter temperaturen holdes på 800°C i4timer. Etter kalsinering oppnås 50 g katalysator A med perovskittstruktur.
Eksempel 2: Katalysator B La1Ni0^5Fe0^5O3
Fremstilling av katalysator B er forskjellig fra fremstillingen av katalysator A ved at mengden av nikkelnitrat-heksahydrat og jernnitrat-heksahydrat som anvendes er hen-holdsvis 31,4 g og 37,8 g. Ved slutten av kalsineringsproses-sen oppnås 50 g katalysator B og katalysatoren har perovskitt-struktur.
Eksempel3:Katalysator C La1Ni0#gFeo,4°3
Fremstilling av katalysator C er forskjellig fra fremstillingen av katalysator A ved at mengden av nikkelnitrat-heksahydrat og jernnitrat-heksahydrat som anvendes er hen-holdsvis 37.7 g og 30,2 g. Den oppnådde katalysator C har perovskitt-struktur.
Eksempel 4 : Katalysator D La^Nig ^ gFeg , 2^3
Fremstilling av katalysator D er forskjellig fra fremstillingen av katalysator A ved at mengden av nikkelnitrat-heksahydrat og jernnitrat-heksahydrat som anvendes er hen-holdsvis 50,2 g og 15,1 g. Den oppnådde katalysator D har perovskitt-struktur.
Eksempel 5: Katalysator E La-|_Ni-]_03
Fremstillingen av katalysator E er forskjellig fra fremstillingen av katalysator A ved at mengden av nikkelnitrat-heksahydrat er 62,8 g og ved at det ikke anvendes jern ved fremstillingen av katalysatoren. Den oppnådde katalysator E har perovskitt-struktur.
Eksempel 6: Katalysator F La1Fe103
Fremstillingen av katalysator F er forskjellig fra fremstillingen av katalysator A ved at mengden av jernnitrat-heksahydrat er 75,6 g og ved at det ikke anvendes jern ved fremstillingen av katalysatoren. Den oppnådde katalysator F har perovskitt-struktur.
Eksempel 7:
Katalysatorer A til F, hvor fremstillingen er beskrevet 1 eksempel 1 til 6, testes i en gassfase i et anlegg som drives med 50 cm<3>katalysator. Katalysatorskiktet anordnes mellom to skikt av partikkelformig kvarts. Katalysatorene A til F bringes i kontakt med en blanding av metan, oksygen og nitrogen med følgende sammensetning (betegnet som partial-trykk):
CH4: 13,3 0 kPa
02 : 6,65 kPa
N2: 80,00 kPa
Romhastigheten er 15-IO<3>volumer av reaktive gasser pr. volum katalysator og pr. time. Katalysatorskiktets temperatur forhøyes fra omgivelsestemperatur til den testtemperatur som er angitt i tabell 1 med en hastighet på 1°C pr. minutt. Ytelseskarakteristikkene oppnådd etter forskjellige reak-sjonstider er angitt i tabell 1.
Metanomdannelsen beregnes i henhold til følgende formel: CO, C02selektivitetene beregnes på basis av ligningen
Resultatene som er angitt i tabell I viser at katalysatorer A til D i henhold til oppfinnelsen er aktive og selek-tive ved lav temperatur ved den partielle oksydasjonsreaksjon av metan eller en gassformig blanding som inneholder metan, for fremstilling av hydrogen eller syntesegass.
Spesielt er disse katalysatorer som samtidig inneholder nikkel og jern i kombinert form og perovskitt-strukturen både mer aktive og mer stabile ved lave temperaturer enn sammen-ligningskatalysatoren som enten inneholder bare nikkel (katalysator E) eller bare jern (katalysator F). Katalysatorene i henhold til oppfinnelsen fører også til dannelse av en høyere andel CO enn det som er tilfelle med sammenligningskatalysa-torene E og F, idet karbonmonoksyd dannes i overveiende grad i forhold til C02straks reaksjonstemperaturen overskrider 700°C.
Stabiliteten av katalysatorene i henhold til oppfinnelsen har sin grunn i stabiliteten av perovskitt-strukturen, inkludert under reaksjonsgass, noe som er vist ved røntgen-strålediffraksjonsspektre, f.eks. for katalysator B før testen og etter 1000 timers testing.
Perovskitt-strukturen for katalysator E (LaNi03, sam-menligningskatalysator) observert ved røntgenstrålediffrak-sjon før testen, opprettholdes ikke etter bare 2 timers testing ved 800°C. Diffraksjonsspektret indikerer da nærvær av metallisk nikkel og en lantanoksykarbonatfase.
Claims (8)
1. Katalysator for den partielle oksydasjon av metan eller en gassformig blanding som inneholder metan,karakterisert vedat katalysatoren har en krystallinsk struktur av perovskitt-type og har sammensetningen LnxA-L_yBy03, hvor
x er et tall slik at 0 < x < 10
y er et tall slik at 0 < y <1
Ln er minst ett element valgt fra gruppen som utgjøres
av sjeldne jordarter, strontium og vismut,
A er et metall valgt fra gruppene IVb, Vb, VIb, VIIb og VIII i elementenes periodiske system,
B er et metall valgt fra gruppene IVb, Vb, VIb, VIIb og VIII i elementenes periodiske system,
A og B er to forskjellige metaller.
2. Katalysator ifølge krav 1,
karakterisert vedat Ln er minst ett element valgt blant La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Sm, En, Dy, Ho og Ef, A er et metall valgt fra gruppen som utgjøres av elementene Ti, Cr, Fe, Ru, Co, Rh og Ni og B er et metall valgt fra gruppen som utgjøres av elementene Ti, Cr, Fe, Ru, Co, Rh og Ni.
3. Katalysator ifølge hvilket som helst av kravene 1 og 2,karakterisert vedat A er et metall valgt fra gruppen som utgjøres av elementene Fe, Co og Ni og B er et metall valgt fra gruppen som utgjøres av elementene Fe, Co og Ni.
4. Katalysator ifølge hvilket som helst av kravene 1 til 3,karakterisert vedat den har sammensetningen LaxFe1_yNiy03, hvor x er et tall slik at 0 < x < 10 og y er et tall slik at 0 < y < 1.
5. Anvendelse av katalysatoren ifølge hvilket som helst av kravene 1 til 4 for fremstilling av minst én gass valgt fra gruppen som utgjøres av hydrogen og blandinger av CO/CO2/H2, og som i hovedsak inneholder CO og H2/ved partiell oksyda sjon, med minst ett element valgt fra gruppen som utgjøres av oksygen, luft, karbondioksyd, av metan eller av en gassformig blanding som inneholder metan og hvor fremstillingen finner sted ved driftsbetingelser slik at det totale trykk er mellom 0,1 og 5 MPa, temperaturen er mellom 300 og 1000°C og romhas-tighetene mellom IO<3>og 2-IO<5>volumer gass pr. volum katalysator og pr. time.
6. Anvendelse ifølge krav 5,
hvor forholdet CH4 :(02 + C02) er lik eller høyere enn 0,5.
7. Anvendelse ifølge krav 5,
hvor forholdet CH4:(02+ C02) er lik eller høyere enn 1.
8. Anvendelse ifølge hvilket som helst av kravene 5 til 7, hvor temperaturen er mellom 500 og 800°C.
