Abstract
The equipment is movable along a kite line, and is used for the taking of meteorological observations etc. It has a U-shaped spring stirrup (1), the legs of which have eyes (2) through which the line (3) runs, while a spindle (4) is fixed to the stirrup body and lies in the same plane. Wings (6) hinge on the spindle on opposite sides of the stirrup, and they can be locked in the spread position in opposition to a spring by a mechanism released by a shock-load. This mechanism can comprise a bar (8) fixed to the leading stirrp leg at one end, while its other end is bent into a hook (10), working with a lug and accommodating a pull wire (11), attached to the wings at opposite ends.
