Abstract

1,032,584. Hooks. J. R. WILLIAMS, and J. I. BILLS. Feb. 2, 1965 [Feb. 28, 1964], No. 8539/64. Heading F2H. A mousing-piece 17 is loaded to closed position by a double spring 20 and is pivoted on a bolt 15 which secures it to a clamp 10, 11 held releasably by a bolt 12 and lock-nut 13 on a hook 24. The clamp 10, 11 is formed from a T- shaped piece of metal, the cross-piece being bent to give two arms 10 for embracing the hook and the upright being curved to form a bracket 11. A tubular eye is formed on or secured to the end of the bracket 11 to receive the pivot bolt 15. The mousing-piece 17 is curved and of a channel form with side extensions 19 for facilitating manipulation and an end dimple 18 for locating on the hook. The channel is wider than the eye length and, in a gap at each end of the eye, a helical portion of the spring 20 is mounted on the pivot bolt 15. The ends 21 of the spring lie in the channel and a U- shaped portion 22 lies on the bracket 11.
