Abstract

Se proporciona una descripcion de un proceso para la preparacion industrial de metilhidroxialquilcelulosas (MHACs) mediante la reaccion de celulosa con hidroxido de metal alcalino y la reaccion subsecuente con un haluro de alquilo y un agente de hidroxialquilacion, caracterizado en que la reaccion se lleva a cabo por lotes en un reactor el cual tiene una relacion de L/D menor que 2.5 y en el cual las regiones no mezcladas se minimizan y el reactor de carga por lotes esta precedido en la entrada por una instalacion de molienda de celulosa operada continuamente y esta seguido en la salida por una planta que funciona continuamente para moler y secar los productos, donde el producto es transportado por la accion de la gravedad. Tambien se describe un aparato para llevar a cabo este proceso y la metilhidroxialquilcelulosa que se puede obtener por el proceso.
