Abstract

Se describe un polimero conductor que es adecuado para utilizarse en aplicaciones que requieren resistencia a la corrosion incluyendo resistencia a la corrosion cuando se somete a flujo acidico a una temperatura en el intervalo de -40 a 60°C (-40 a 140°F) y que puede moldearse en especimenes altamente intrincados y delgados que exhiben conductividad consistente, suficiente resistencia y flexibilidad y caracteristicas de superficie apropiadas. En particular, la invencion involucra moldear una composicion de resina de prepolimero insaturado, que tiene altas cargas de rellenos conductores. Ademas para permitir las caracteristicas necesarias, las composiciones incluyen modificadores reologicos tales como oxidos e hidroxidos del grupo II, carbodiamidas; aziridinas; poliisocianatos; politetrafluoroetileno (PTFE); perfluoropolieter (PFPE), y polietileno. En forma ostensible, estos modificadores actuan para alterar el peso molecular aparente y las estructuras de red de prepolimero tridimensionales corrigiendo las deficiencias reologicas, que de otra forma conducen a separacion excesiva de particulas de resina durante el proceso de moldeo y grandes variancias en conductividad en masa a traves de la superficie de la placa. La composicion se describe para utilizarse en celdas electroquimicas tales como celdas de combustible.
