Abstract
Se proporciona una enzima novedosa la cual es util en la resolucion optica de D-pantolactona por medio de hidrolisis asimétrica D-selectiva, y un gen que codifica para la misma. La invencion describe el gen que codifica para D-pantolactona hidrolasa natural (por ejemplo, uno que se origina en Fusarium oxysporum) o para proteínas que tienen una actividad sustancialmente equivalente a la misma, células huésped transformadas con ADN que contiene una secuencia de nucleotidos que codifica para la proteína, procesos para producir la proteína por medio de utilizacion de tales células huésped y usos de las proteínas y de las células huésped.
