Abstract
El toluilendiisocianato se produce por la nitracion de tolueno para producir dinitrotolueno, la hidrogenacion del nitrotoluneo, opcionalmente la presencia de un solvente o diluyente, para producir una solucion cruda de toluilendiamina y agua de reaccion, procesando la solucion cruda de toluilendiamina y agua para producir una mezcla intermedia de toluilendiamina y agua en donde el procesamiento se interrumpe para dar por resultado un contenido de agua aproximadamente 1-40 % en peso, en forma preferente aproximadamente 2-10 % en peso de la mezcla intermedia, transportando esta mezcla intermedia desde un primer medio de produccion a un segundo medio de produccion, con lo cual la mezcla intermedia de TDA y agua se termina para producir toluilendiamina seca de calidad comercial, y seguido por la fosgenacion de la toluilendiamina para dar toluilendiisocianato. Es opcional seca antes de la fosgenacion. la invencion también se refiere a mezclas intermedias de toluilendiamina y agua que tienen un punto de solidificacion de a lo más 95 degree C, y al uso de estas mezclas intermedias para producir toluilendiisocianato. Es preferible que el uso de estas mezclas intermedias para producir toluilendiisocianato se realice en un sitio (o ubicacion) que sea diferente del sitio de produccion de las mezclas intermedias de toluilendiamina y agua.
