Abstract

Se transesterifican ésteres metílicos o etílicos de ácidos mono y policarboxílicos con alcoholes y polioles, mediante su reaccion en la presencia de una cantidad catalíticamente efectiva de un catalizador de organoestaño que tiene la estructura: (ver estructura), en donde, por cada Sn, A se selecciona independientemente a partir de grupos alquilo que contienen de 1 a 4 átomos de carbono, y X se selecciona independientemente a partir de grupos alquilo, cloro, bromo, hidroxilo, alcoxi de 1 a 18 átomos de carbono, y aciloxi de 1 a 18 átomos de carbono, dado que cuando X sea alquilo, el numero total de átomos de carbono en A y X por cada Sn no sea mayor de 4, y cuando X no sea alquilo, el numero total de átomos de carbono en A por cada Sn no sea mayor de 4; y se selecciona a partir de los grupos cloro, bromo, hidroxilo, alcoxi de 1 a 18 átomos de carbono, y aciloxi de 1 a 18 átomos de carbono, R se selecciona a partir de los grupos hidrogeno, alquilo de 1 a 18 átomos de carbono, y acilo de 1 a 18 átomos de carbono, o Y, X, y -O-R forman juntos un grupo de ácido estananoico o un anhídrido del mismo, y N es un entero de 1 a 10; de tal manera que se forma un éster de ácido carboxílico de alcohol o poliol, el cual entonces se lava con álcali acuoso que tiene un pH mayor de aproximadamente 13.2 para remover esencialmente todo el catalizador de organoestaño, permitiendo de esta manera la recuperacion deléster de ácido carboxílico de alcohol o poliol esencialmente exento del catalizador de organoestaño.
