Abstract
Un polvo particulado inorgánico novedoso recubierto con un polímero se reivindica en esta invención. El producto se puede obtener dispersando en agua partículas inorgánicas a un pH mayor que su punto isoeléctrico en la presencia de un ácido polibásico polimérico como agente de dispersión para producir partículas con un punto isoeléctrico modificado. El pH de la dispersión se ajusta seguidamente a un valor abajo de 9 pero arriba del punto isoeléctrico modificado y un monómero insaturado etilénicamente se polimeriza en la presencia de la dispersión de tal manera que se recubran las partículas inorgánicas con el monómero polimerizado. También se reivindica un método para formar las partículas. Las partículas preparadas por medio de este método han demostrado recubrirse de una manera uniforma y discreta con un recubrimiento polimérico orgánico y se puede usar en muchas aplicaciones en la que se desee dispersar las partículas inorgánicas en un medio orgánico tales como las pinturas, las tintas y las composiciones de plásticos.
