Abstract

Un método para convertir un alcohol en una fracción de hidrocarburo que tiene un contenido de benceno rebajado, que comprende: convertir dicho alcohol a una fracción de hidrocarburo que entra en contacto con dicho alcohol, en condiciones adecuadas para la conversión de dicho alcohol a dicha fracción de hidrocarburo, con un catalizador de zeolita cargado con metal catalíticamente activo para la conversión de dicho alcohol a dicha fracción de hidrocarburo, y entrar en contacto dicha fracción de hidrocarburo con un catalizador de alquilación de benceno, bajo condiciones adecuadas para la alquilación de benceno, para formar el producto benceno alquilado en dicha fracción de hidrocarburo. También se describe una composición de catalizador útil en el método, que comprende una mezcla de (i) un catalizador de zeolita cargado con metal catalíticamente activo para la conversión de dicho alcohol a dicho hidrocarburo, y (ii) un catalizador de alquilación de benceno, en donde (i) y (ii) pueden estar en un estado mezclado o separado. También se describe un reactor para alojar el catalizador y la modalidad de la reacción.
