Abstract
Se proporciona una herramienta y un método para utilizar la herramienta para formar un componente del motor. El motor tiene un bloque que define un primer cilindro y un segundo cilindro separados entre sí por un puente de cilindros. El puente de cilindros define un primer pasaje de refrigeración separado de una cara de cubierta y que se extiende transversalmente, y un segundo pasaje de refrigeración ubicado entre el primer pasaje y la cara de cubierta y que se extiende transversalmente. El primer y el segundo pasaje están formados por una cáscara de fundición. En la formación del componente del motor, se proporciona una matriz que define una cavidad localizadora y al menos un núcleo. Una inserción se ubica dentro de la cavidad en la matriz. La inserción tiene una carcasa de fundición que rodea un núcleo perdido. El componente se funde a presión con la matriz y la inserción para formar una camisa de refrigeración. La inserción está adaptada para formar los pasajes de refrigeración para el puente de cilindros.
