Abstract

Se describe una aleación de acero de temple al aire que comprende, en porcentaje en peso: 0,18 a 0,26 de carbono; 3,50 a 4,00 de níquel; 1,60 a 2,00 de cromo; 0 a 0,50 de molibdeno; 0,80 a 1,20 de manganeso; 0,25 a 0,45 de silicio; 0 a menos de 0,005 de titanio; 0 a menos de 0,020 de fósforo; 0 hasta 0,005 de boro; 0 hasta 0,003 de azufre; hierro e impurezas. La aleación de acero de temple al aire tiene una dureza de Brineil en un intervalo de 352 HBW a 460 HBW. La aleación de acero de temple al aire combina resistencia elevada y tenacidad y dureza medias, en comparación con determinadas aleaciones de acero de temple al aire conocidas y aplicadas en, por ejemplo, cualquiera de un blindaje de acero, un casco a prueba de estallidos, un casco en forma de V a prueba de estallidos, una parte inferior de un vehículo a prueba de estallidos y un recinto a prueba de estallidos.
