Abstract

The armour plate is composed of a steel sheet of compn. 0.31% C, 0.5-1% Si, 0.1-1% Mn, 3-10% Cr, 0.5-3% Mo, 0.2-1%V, balance Fe, clad to a second steel sheet of compn. 0.1-0.3% C, 0.1-1% Si, 0.1-2% Mn, 2-10% Ni, 0.2-2% Cr, 0.2-2% Mo,trace V and balance Fe. After cladding the plate is heated to 900-1050 degrees C, pref. 950 degrees C, quenched and annealed at 200-650 degrees C pref. for 1 h at 520 degrees C. The ratio of thickness of the plate exposed to impact to total thickness is 0.1-0.8.
