Abstract

Se describen en presente documento técnicas para mejorar la estructura del grano de un producto de metal, aplicando energía ultrasónica a un producto de metal fundido de manera continua en una posición corriente abajo de la región de fundición, y que permite que la energía ultrasónica se propague a través del producto de metal a la región de solidificación. En la región de solidificación, la energía ultrasónica puede interactuar con los granos de metal crecientes, tal como para desaglomerar y dispersar las partículas nucleantes y romper y fragmentar las dendritas conforme crecen, lo que puede fomentar la nucleación adicional y resultar en tamaños del grano más pequeños.
