Abstract

La presente invención hace referencia a una intersección de tránsito y a un sistema de guía de tránsito para aquella, que tiene una región de intersección donde se cruzan dos caminos, y una zona de cruce distal que permite que los vehículos que están girando a la derecha (sobre un camino de conducción a la izquierda) para cruzar al lado de la derecha del camino en una distancia desde la intersección. De esta manera, no se requiere de una fase separada de giro a la derecha de los semáforos en la intersección, y los vehículos que giran a la derecha pueden girar al mismo tiempo que los vehículos que circulan en línea recta sobre la intersección o que giran a la izquierda. El carril de giro a la derecha que se aproxima a la zona de cruce distal desde un lateral distal de la zona de cruce distal está ubicado bien a la izquierda, permitiendo que los vehículos que circulan en línea recta continúen desplazándose en línea recta. Carriles que guían a los vehículos que circulan en línea recta que son reconfigurables para guiar a los vehículos a desplazarse en direcciones opuestas en distintos momentos del día, dependiendo de la carga de tránsito, y que también son reconfigurables como espacios para estacionamiento. También se presentan carriles para bicicletas que se reciben desde la región de intersección entre el carril proximal de giro a la derecha de la zona de cruce distal y los carriles de circulación en línea recta que se aproximan a la región de intersección.
