Abstract
Los aspectos de la presente invención se refieren a polímeros, y en particular a polímeros de farneseno funcionalizados con uno o varios grupos de oxirano y, opcionalmente, uno o varios grupos hidroxílicos. De conformidad con un aspecto de la invención se proporciona un polifarneseno epoxidizado y opcionalmente funcionalizado con hidroxilo. El polímero de farneseno epoxidizado tiene al menos una de una cadena lateral o una cadena principal funcionalizada con al menos un grupo de oxirano y, opcionalmente, al menos un extremo terminal funcionalizado con un grupo hidroxílico. De acuerdo con otro aspecto de la invención se proporciona un método para preparar un polifarneseno epoxidizado y opcionalmente funcionalizado con hidroxilo. El método incluye el epoxidizado de un polímero de farneseno, el cual opcionalmente puede contener uno o varios grupos terminales hidroxílicos, para funcionalizar al menos uno de una cadena lateral o una cadena principal del polímero de farneseno con un grupo de oxirano.
