Abstract

La presente invención se refiere a un proceso para purificar óxido de propileno, que comprende (i) proporcionar una corriente S0 que comprende óxido de propileno, acetonitrilo, agua, y un compuesto orgánico que comprende un grupo carbonilo -C(=O)-, donde dicho compuesto orgánico que comprende un grupo carbonilo -C(=O)- comprende uno o más de acetona y propionaldehído; (ii) separar óxido de propileno de la corriente S0 por destilación, que comprende someter la corriente S0 a condiciones de destilación en una columna de destilación, obteniendo una corriente superior gaseosa S1c que está enriquecida en óxido de propileno en comparación con la corriente S0, una corriente inferior líquida S1a que está enriquecida en acetonitrilo y agua en comparación con la corriente S0, y una corriente secundaria S1b que comprende óxido de propileno que está enriquecida en el compuesto de carbonilo en comparación con la comente S0; donde la columna de destilación se opera a una presión absoluta en la parte superior de la columna de destilación en el intervalo de 0.1 a 2.0 bar y una relación de reflujo interno en el intervalo de 2.0 a 6.0; donde la columna de destilación exhibe al menos 100 placas teóricas, la sección de rectificación de la columna de destilación consiste en 30 a 70% de las placas teóricas y la sección de extracción de la columna de destilación consiste en 70 a 30% de las placas teóricas.
