Abstract
Un proceso y un aparato para convertir materiales orgánicos sólidos en carbón o carbón activado. El tratamiento de los materiales orgánicos sólidos es libre de oxígeno y totalmente bajo condición endotérmica. El aparato consta de un recipiente a presión (1), un aislamiento térmico con revestimiento de protección para recipientes (2) a presión, un tambor giratorio (3) perforado o no perforado, un extremo (4) de plato sellado, un eje giratorio (5), un motorreductor con transmisión por correa o cadena (6), un calentador (7) de vapor super para la generación de vapor sobrecalentado, por lo menos una válvula de entrada (8) para regular el vapor sobrecalentado, por lo menos un tubo (9) de alimentación, un soporte (10) de inclinación o giro, por lo menos un rodillo cilíndrico (11), un extremo (12) de puerta abierto o cerrado, un orificio (13) de alimentación o de eliminación, un canal de conexión (14), por lo menos una válvula de seguridad (15), un tubo de salida (16) de gases, por lo menos una válvula de salida (17), una unidad de tratamiento de gases (18) para el tratamiento de los gases de reacción generados, por lo menos un medidor de presión (19) y al menos un indicador de temperatura (20). El recipiente a presión se inclina, junto con sus accesorios, apoyado sobre un soporte de inclinación o de giro, y los materiales orgánicos sólidos son alimentados al tambor giratorio y enseguida es realineado. Se suministra gas o vapor al interior del recipiente de presión hasta que todo el aire al interior del recipiente del reactor sea expulsado fuera de éste y, posteriormente, se alimenta continuamente vapor sobrecalentado al tambor giratorio. El tambor giratorio está en constante rotación a través de un motor de engranaje y los gases de reacción generados son evacuados del recipiente de presión hacia la unidad de tratamiento de gases en donde los materiales orgánicos sólidos son convertidos en carbón o carbón activado.
