Abstract

Un método para obtener una temperatura de inicio controlada de un proceso de epoxidación que excede la temperatura máxima que se puede alcanzar en un reactor de epoxidación con relación al uso de una fuerte de calor externa. El método de la presente invención utiliza una reacción de oxidación dentro del reactor para llevar la temperatura del reactor a una temperatura que es apropiada para acondicionar un catalizador de alta selectividad. El método de la presente invención incluye primeramente llevar el reactor que incluye un catalizador de alta selectividad a una primera temperatura utilizando la fuente de calor externa al reactor, el cual mientras está dentro del reactor designa limitaciones y mantiene en flujo de gas al reactor que está dentro de 25 a 100% del rango de diseño. Una vez que el reactor haya alcanzado la primera temperatura, al menos una olefina, por ejemplo, etileno y después oxígeno son introducidos al gas de alimentación del reactor. Las concentraciones y de olefina y oxígeno son ajustadas para tener un calor de reacción que permitirá el crecimiento del flujo de gas en el reactor a 100% del diseño y después suficiente calor de reacción para elevar la temperatura de reacción a una segunda temperatura la cual es mayor que la primera temperatura y mayor que la temperatura del reactor que se puede alcanzar por la fuente de calor externa.
