Abstract
Se describe un codificador de video que efectua una prediccion compensada en movimiento (1906, 1012, 1014, 1016)tanto en la capa base (1002) como en una capa mejorada (1004)para determinar datos de movimiento de la capa mejorada al utilizar los datos de movimiento de la capa base y/o para predecir secuencias de imagenes de error residual despues de la prediccion compensada en movimiento en la capa mejorada al utilizar secuencias de imagenes de error residual de la capa base via un predictor de capa intermedia (1018). En el lado del descodificador, se usa un combinador de capa intermedia para cancelar esta prediccion de capa intermedia. Mediante esto, la velocidad de datos es mejorada en comparacion con esquemas de escalabilidad sin prediccion de capa intermedia con la misma calidad de imagen.
