Abstract

Una resina de novolaca fenolica modificada se preparara mediante hacer reaccionar un compuesto fenolico (v. gr., resorcinol) con un poliol alifatico. La mezcla de reaccion ademas reacciona con un formaldehido para producir una resina de novolaca fenolica modificada. La reaccion tipicamente se lleva a cabo en presencia de un catalizador acido o basico. La resina resultante se caracteriza por un nivel relativamente bajo de resorcinol libre; y compuestos de hule conteniendo la resina exhiben baja formacion de humo, menor viscosidad de Mooney (que significa mejor procesamiento)l, mejores propiedades de rigidez dinamica (G'), y/o buenas propiedades de rasgado. Por lo tanto, la resina resultante se puede usar como un compuesto aceptador de metileno en una composicion de hule vulcanizable.
