Abstract
La presente invencion se refiere a una composicion metalica maestra, adaptada para la aleacion con la plata para dar una aleacion que contiene al menos 77% en peso de Ag y al menos 0.5% en peso de Ge que comprende Cu, Ge, y boro junto con cualesquiera ingredientes adicionales para la aleacion y cualesquiera impurezas. La misma proporciona ademas un proceso para fabricar la aleacion de plata que contiene plata en una cantidad de al menos 77% en peso de Ag, 1-7.2% en peso de Cu, cobre, al menos 0.5% en peso de Ge y B junto con cualesquiera ingredientes adicionales para la aleacion y cualesquiera impurezas, que comprende la etapa de fundir conjuntamente la plata fina y una composicion metalica maestra que es al menos una aleacion ternaria de cobre, germanio iy boro, por ejemplo, de 92.5-92.8% en peso de Ag, 6.0-6.3% en peso de Cu, aproximadamente 1.2% en peso de Ge y 1-15 ppm de boro como un refinador del grano. La aleacion de plata resultante exhibe buena resistencia contra el deslustre y la formacion de una mancha purpura y puede exhibir un endurecimiento por precipitacion significativo durante el enfriamiento gradual con aire. En un aspecto adicional, la invencion se refiere a un metodo para la fabricacion de una aleacion maestra a base de cobre para su uso en la fabricacion de los productos de aleacion de plata, en donde la aleacion maestra previo a la solidificacion es tratada con un compuesto de boro que se puede descomponer, por ejemplo un hidruro de boro o un borohidruro metalico.
