Abstract
La presente invención se refiere a un método para producir un cuerpo autosoportante, caracterizado porque comprende: poner en contacto por lo menos un material que comprende un material seleccionado del grupo que consiste de carburo de boro y una mezcla de un material donador de carbono y un material donador de boro, con un molde poroso, efectuándose el contacto mediante al menos un proceso que comprende moldeo por sedimentación, moldeo en barbotina y prensado isostático, para formar una preforma que esta en contacto con el molde; calentar un metal madre, en una atmosféra sustancialmente inerte, a una temperatura por encima de su punto de fusión, para formar un cuerpo de metal madre fundido, y poner en contacto el cuerpo de metal madre fundido con la preforma, mantener la temperatura durante un tiempo suficiente para permitir la infiltración del metal madre fundido dentro de la preforma y para permitir la reacción del metal madre fundido con la preforma, para formar por lo menos un compuesto que contiene boro; y continuar la reacción de infiltración durante un tiempo suficiente para producir el cuerpo autosoportante, que comprende por lo menos un compuesto de metal madre que contiene boro.
