Abstract
La presente invención se refiere a un método para producir un cuerpo autosoportante que comprende: (a) seleccionar un metal madre, (b) calentar dicho metal madre en una atmósfera sustancialmente inerte hasta una temperatura por encima de su punto de fusión para formar un cuerpo de metal fundido, y poner en contacto dicho cuerpo de metal madre fundido con una masa que comprende una fuente de boro, (c) mantener dicha temperatura durante un tiempo suficiente para permitir la infiltración del metal madre fundido en dicha masa y permitir la reacción del metal madre fundido con dicha fuente de boro para formar un boruro de metal madre, y (d) proseguir dicha infiltración y reacción durante un tiempo suficiente para producir dicho cuerpo autosoportante que comprende una fase metálica y boruro de metal madre.
