Abstract
La presente invención se refoere a procedimiento de alta presión para la recuperación de azufre a partir de una corriente de gas que contiene sulfuro de hidrógeno, caracterizado porque comprende quemar el gas que contiene sulfuro de hidrógeno en un horno con un gas que contiene sulfuro de hidrógeno en un horno con un gas que contiene oxígeno en que el oxígeno se suministra por aire enriquecido con oxígeno, con un contenido de oxígeno mayor del 21 por ciento para suministrar sulfuro de sulfuro de hidrógeno y dióxido de azufre que forman una corriente gaseosa que comprende vapor de agua, vapor de azufre y otros componentes gaseosos ácidos, enfriar y dividir la corriente gaseosa formada en una corriente restante del gas del proceso substancialmente exenta de agua, a una presión mayor de 3.5 kg/cm cuadrado, de manera que el agua y el azufre se condensen concurrentemente y a una tempeatura mayor que el punto de fusión del azufre, de aproximadamente 120 grados Cy en seguida separar la corriente combinada de agua líquida y azufre líquido en una corriente producto de agua líquida y una corriente producto de azufre líquido.
