Abstract

본 발명은 투명전극이 코팅된 기판에 배향막을 형성하고 스페이서를 도포하여 기판을 접합하고 액정을 주입하는 액정판넬의 제조방법에서, 투명전극이 코팅된 기판에 언더코팅 배향막을 형성한 후, 언더코팅 배향재료와 상이한 재질로 적어도 한번 오보코팅하여 다중 코팅배향막을 이루게 한 액정판넬의 제조방법으로, 다중코팅에 의한 다중코팅 배향막을 이루므로 러빙에 의해 발생하는 스크레치를 제거할 수 있고, 다중 코팅으로 프리틸트각이 서로 다른 2개 또는 그 이상의 배향제를 사용할 수 있으므로 프리틸트각의 제어가 가능하고 따라서 전압 인가시 발생하는 디스클리네이션(disclination) 결합을 제어할 수 있고, 또한 프리틸트각을 크게 하면 문턱 전압(threshold voltage)을 낮출수가 있어 구동 회로 설계에도 유리하게 된다.

액정판넬의 제조방법
본 내용은 요부공개 건이므로 전문내용을 수록하지 않았음
제1도는 액정 고분자를 2차 배향막으로 사용하여 제조한 판넬의 전기광학특성도, 제2도는 전압 증가와 감소에 따른 실시예1에서 제조한 액정 판넬의 광투과특성, 메모리특성 그리고 문턱전압(threshold voltage)과의 관계도, 제3도는 LPET를 2차 코팅제로 사용하여 만들어진 액정판넬의 전기광학 특성도, 제4도는 비교예1에 의하여 만들어진 액정판넬 즉 고분자 액정만을 배향막으로 사용하였을 경우의 전기광학특성도, 제5도는 비교예2에서 만들어진 액정판넬의 전기광학특성도이다.

Claims (3)

  1. 투명전극이 코팅된 기판에 배향막을 형성하고 스페이서를 도포하여 기판을 접합하고 액정을 주입하는 액정판넬의 제조방법에서, 투명전극이 코팅된 기판에 언더코팅 배향막을 형성한 후, 언더코팅 배향재료와 상이한 재질로 적어도 한번 오버코팅하여 다중 코팅배향막을 이루게함을 특징으로 하는 액정판넬의 제조방법.
  2. 제1항에 있어서, 언더코팅은 폴리아미드, 폴리비닐알콜, 폴리에스테르, 액정고분자 등의 일종이며, 이를 러빙처리한 후 액정고분자막 또는 유기고분자막으로 오버코팅하는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정판넬의 제조방법.
  3. 제1항에 있어서, 언더코팅은 SiO등의 무기막을 사방증착하고, 오버코팅은 유기막 또는 기타 배향막을 2차 코팅하는 것을 포함함을 특징으로 하는 액정판넬의 제조방법.
