Abstract

본 발명 표시 장치는 대향면들에 안내층(7)이 적용된 진극층(4,5)들을 구비하면서 대향되게 위치된 2개의 플레이트(1,2)들로 이루어진 기판들과, 플레이트들의 선단부들 사이에 구비된 밀봉재료(3) 및, 플레이트들과 밀봉재료 사이의 공간에 채워진 액정 재료(6)로 구성된 표시 셀을 포함한다. 본 발명 표시 장치에서는, 액정 재료가 소망하는 패턴에 따라 폴리머 네트워크로 국부적으로 형성되고, 이에 따라 단일 전극들과 전도트랙들이 서로 교차하는 위치들에서 화상 형성이 요구되지 않는다. 현 액정 재료의 전환 역치를 국부적으로 증가시킬 수 있기 때문에 충분한 자유도를 갖고서 원하는 화소들의 패턴을 설계할 수 있다.

제3도는 비반응성 액정재료혼합물의 조성에 대한 구조식.
제4도는 본 발명에 따른 표시셀에서 전극패턴과 전도트랙을 도시한 개략도.

Claims (5)

  1. 대향면들에 안내층이 적용된 진극층들을 구비하면서 대향되게 위치된 2개의 플레이트들로 이루어진 기판들과, 플레이트들의 선단부들 사이에 구비된 밀봉재료 및, 플레이트들과 밀봉재료 사이의 공간에 채워진 액정재료를 포함하는 표시셀을 갖춘 표시장치에 있어서, 상기 액정재료가 반응성 기들을 갖는 분자들을 포함하고, 또 상기액 정재료가 소망하는 패턴에 따라 폴리머 네트워크로 국부적으로 형성된 것을 특징으로 하는 표시장치.
  2. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 액정 재료가 네트워크의 위치에서 방향성을 갖는 상태로 움직이지 않도륵 된 것을 특징으로 하는 표시장치.
  3. 제1항 또는 제2항에 있어서, 상기 플레이트들중의 하나가 표시셀내의 화소들을 구동하기 위한 소정 패턴의 전극들을 구비하고, 다른 플레이트가 연속적인 대향전극을 구비하는 것을 특징으로 하는 표시장치.
  4. 대향면들에 안내층이 적용된 전극층들을 구비하면서 대향되게 위치된 2개의 플레이트들로 이루어진 기판들과, 플레이트들의 선단부들 사이에 구비된 밀봉재료 및, 플레이트들과 밀봉재료 사이의 공간에 채워진 액정재료를 포함하는 표시셀을 갖춘 표시장치를 제조하는 방법에 있어서, 반응성 기들을 갖는 액정재료가 선택되고, 마스크를 매개로 화학선에 노광시킴으로써 액정 재료가 소망하는 패턴에 따른 폴리머네트워크로 국부적으로 형성되는 것을 특징으로 하는 표시장치의 제조방법.
