Abstract

PURPOSE: To ensure the input and replacement of the display information with a simple operation, by providing the switch consisting of the 1st and 2nd transparent electrodes plus the means to give a short circuit between the 1st and 2nd transparent electrodes by the fixed pressure onto several display elements.
CONSTITUTION: The liquid crystal driving electrodes 2 and 4 are distributed on the glass substrate 1 and 3 and in both the row and column directions. Then the faces containing the electrodes are made opposite to each other, and the liqiuid crystal 5 is enclosed in the gap between the faces to form a liquid crystal element. The transparent siwtch electrodes 6 are distributed at the opposite side to the electrode 4 of the substrate 3 and in opposition to the electrode 4 and in the column direction. And the transparent switch electrode 8 is distributed on the electrode 6 via the transparent insulating film 7 and in opposition to the electrode 2 in the row direction. The intersection of the electrodes 6 and 8 is opposed to the position of the display cell at the intersection region of the electrodes 2 and 4. The through-hole part 7a is provided at the position corresponding to the display cell of the film 7, and a fixed pressure is given to the electrode 8 via the finger or the like. And thus the electrode 8 touches the electrode 6 via the hole 7a, and the short circuit is secured between the electrodes 6 and 8. This position of the short circuit is detected by the display control circuit, and then the display cell is driven for display.
