Abstract

본 발명은 서로 간격을 가지고 배열된 2개의 기판⑵으로 이루어지고 네마틱 액정물질⑷로 채워진 액정셀⑴을 가진 액정 디스플레이에 관한 것이다. 셀의 내실 측면에서 기판⑵에는 전압을 공급하는 전극층⑶이 배열되어 있다. 셀의 외실측면에서 셀의 표면에 걸쳐 복굴절의 보상층이 뻗어있다. 액정셀과 보상층은 2개의 편광필터⑾사이에 배열된다. 보상층은 서로 이웃한 다수 영역을 가진 표면 연장부에 걸쳐 형성되어 있다. 복굴절치는 서로 약간 벗어나 있다.

제 2 도는 액정 디스플레이의 횡단면도에 대한 제2실시예.

Claims (20)

  1. 서로 간격을 가지고 배열된 2개의 기판으로 형성되어 있고 액정물질로 채워져 있는 액정셀과, 셀의 내실 측면에서 기판위에 배열된, 전압을 공급하는 전극층과, 셀의 외실측면에서 셀의 표면위에 뻗어있는 복굴절의 보상층을 가지며, 이 경우 액정셀과 보상층으로 이루어진 유니트의 전후에 편광필터가 배열되어 있는 액정 디스플레이에 있어서, 보상층이 표면 연장부에 걸쳐 서로 이웃한 다수 영역으로 형성되며, 복굴절치가 약간 서로 벗어나는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 디스플레이.
  2. 제 1항에 있어서, 서로 다른 복굴절치의 영역은 육안으로 알수 있는 것보다 더 작은 연장부를 가지는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 디스플레이.
  3. 선행하는 항 중 어느 한 항에 있어서, 복굴절 보상층이 제어되지 않는 제2의 액정셀⑸에 의해 형성되어 있고, 이 액정셀은 서로 간격을 가지고 배열된 2개의 기판⑹으로 이루어져 있고 회전되게 네마틱 액정물질⑺로 채워져 있으며, 서로 다른 복굴절치의 영역이 기판⑹의 셀의 내실측 표면중 어느 하나에 형성되어 있는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 디스플레이.
  4. 제 3항에 있어서, 서로 다른 복굴절치의 영역은 셀의 다른 두께의 영역을 통해 형성되어 있는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 디스플레이.
  5. 제 4항에 있어서, 서로 다른 복굴절치의 영역은 다수의 구멍⑻을 가진 기판(들)⑹의 셀챔버측 표면에 형성되어 있는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 디스플레이.
  6. 제 5항에 있어서, 구멍⑻은, 액정 셀표면 연장부에 걸쳐 제1의 액정셀⑴의 액정층의 총두께차의 크기에 상응하는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 디스플레이.
  7. 제 5항에 있어서, 구멍⑻이 균일하게 분배되어 배열된 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 디스플레이.
  8. 제 5항에 있어서, 구멍⑻이 불균일하게 분배되어 배열된 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 디스플레이.
  9. 제 5항에 있어서, 구멍⑻이 기판⑹이 셀챔버측 표면에 형성되어 있는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 디스플레이.
  10. 제 5항에 있어서, 기판의 셀챔버측 표면이 구멍을 가지는 코팅을 갖고 있는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 디스플레이.
  11. 제 1항과 2항중 어느 한 항에 있어서, 복굴절의 보상층이 제어 가능한 액정셀⑴에 셀챔버 외측에 배열되어 있는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 디스플레이.
  12. 제11항에 있어서, 복굴절의 보상층이 다층으로 형성되어 있는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 디스플레이.
  13. 제12항에 있어서, 다층 보상층의 각 층은 제어 가능한 액정셀⑴의 양측에 배열되어 있는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 디스플레이.
  14. 제12항에 있어서, 복굴절의 보상층이 하나 또는 다수의 필름⑼으로 형성되어 있는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 디스플레이.
  15. 제14항에 있어서, 서로 다른 복굴절치의 영역은 필름의 온도 처리로 발생되는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 디스플레이.
  16. 제14항에 있어서, 서로 다른 복굴절의 영역은 다수의 구멍⑽을 가진 필름⑼표면을 형성하므로 형성되는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 디스플레이.
  17. 제16항에 있어서, 구멍⑽이 균일하게 분배되어 배열된 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 디스플레이.
  18. 제16항에 있어서, 구멍⑽이 불균일하게 분배되어 배열된 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 디스플레이.
  19. 제16항에 있어서, 구멍⑽이 주조과정에 의해 만들어지는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 디스플레이.
  20. 선행하는 항 중 어느 한 항에 있어서, 제어 가능한 및/또는 제어 불가능한 액정셀(1,5)의 액정물질(4,7)이 네마틱 종류이며 셀에서 90°나 그 이상의 회전각을 가지는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 디스플레이.
