Abstract

관련 출원에 대한 상호 참조
본 출원은 2005년 3월 22일에 출원된 가출원 제60/664,299호에 대한 우선권을 주장한다.
본 발명은 대체로 유체 밸브에 관한 것이며, 특히, 선택된 임계 레벨보다 높은 가변 유체 압력에 의해 개방되며 개방시 유체를 일정한 압력 및 유량으로 이송하는 역할을 하는 평상시에는 폐쇄되어 있는 조절 밸브에 관한 것이다.
전술한 유형의 조절 밸브는 공지되어 있으며, 예를 들어 미국 특허 제6,026,850호와 제6,209,578호에 개시되어 있다. 이들 공지된 밸브는 일부 용도에서 완전히 만족스런 방식으로 작동하지만, 이들 설계는 과도하게 복잡하고, 고가이며, 예를 들어 탄산 및 비(非)탄산 소프트드링크(soft drink) 디스펜서와 같은 유체 분배 설비 내에서의 제한된 공간에 합체되는데 곤란하다는 것이 증명되었다.
도면을 참조하면, 본 발명에 따르는 조절 밸브는 대체로 도면 부호 10으로 도시되었다. 밸브는, O링 시일(20)이 사이에 개재된 정합 외측 플랜지(16, 18)에서 컵형 베이스(14)에 결합된 캡(12)을 구비한 외측 하우징을 포함한다.
도1은 개방 상태에 있을 때의 본 발명에 따른 조절 밸브의 단면도이다.
하우징은 차단벽(22)에 의해 헤드부(24)와 베이스부(26)로 구획된다. 캡(12)의 유입구(28)는 임계 레벨 미만에서부터 초과까지 변할 수 있는 압력을 갖는 (도시되지 않은) 유체 공급원에 연결되도록 구성된다. 차단벽(22)의 중앙 포트(30)와 유입구(28)는 밸브의 중심축(A1)을 따라 정렬된다. 또한, 캡(12)의 출구 포트(31)는 제1 축(A1)을 횡단하는 제2 축(A2)에 정렬된다.
조정 조립체(32)는 차단벽(22)과 협동하여 베이스부를 스프링 챔버(23")와 격리되게 유체 챔버(23')로 구획한다. 조정 조립체는 유입구(28)에서의 유체 압력이 임계 압력 미만일 때 유체가 밸브를 통과하여 유동하는 것을 차단하는 역할을 한다. 유입구에서의 유체 압력이 임계 압력을 초과하는 경우, 조정 조립체는 일정한 압력 및 유량으로 헤드부(24)로부터 포트(30)를 관통하여 챔버(23')로의 유체 유동, 그리고 그곳으로부터 출구 포트(31)를 관통하는 유체 유동을 제공하는 역할을 한다. 출구 포트(31), 하류부 오리피스 및 (도시하지 않은) 유동 제한기(flow restrictor) 중 어느 하나가 유체 챔버(23') 내에서 배압을 발생시킨다.
조정 조립체(32)는 중공 쉘(34)과 중앙 플러그(36)로 구성된 피스톤을 포함한다. 피스톤은 축(A1)을 따르는 양 방향으로의 이동을 위해 가요성 환형 다이어프램(38)에 의해 지지된다. 다이어프램의 내주연은 쉘(34)과 플러그(36) 사이에서 포획된다. 컵형 베이스(14)는 캡(12) 내에 수납된 원통벽 세그먼트(14')를 갖는다. 다이어프램의 외주연은 벽 세그먼트(14')의 상부 림(upper rim)(15)과 캡 상의 내향 돌출 내부 렛지(17) 사이에 포획된다.
피스톤 플러그(36) 상의 스템(40)은 포트(30)를 관통하여 헤드부(24) 내로 돌출한다. 스템 상의 확대된 헤드(42)는, 입력부 내의 가변 유체 압력의 반대 작용으로서 포트(30)를 통과하는 유동 경로의 크기를 조정하도록 차단벽의 경사면(46)과 협력하고, 그 결과로서 유체를 일정한 압력 및 유량으로 출구(31) 쪽으로 이송하는 경사진 하면(44)을 갖는다.
스프링 챔버(23") 내의 압축 스프링(48)은 쉘(34)의 하측 표면과 하우징 베이스(14)의 바닥벽(52) 사이에 포획된다. 스프링은 조정 조립체(32)를 차단벽(22) 쪽으로 가압한다. 유입구(28)의 유체 압력이 임계 압력 미만일 때에는, 스프링(48)은 다이어프램(38)을 차단벽(22)에 대하여 가압하는 기능을 하여 유체 챔버(23')로부터 출구(31') 쪽으로의 유체 유동을 차단한다. 유체 압력이 임계 압력을 초과할 때에는, 스프링(48)의 탄성 폐쇄력이 극복되어, 피스톤 조립체가 차단벽으로부터 이격 이동하도록 허용하며, 협력하는 경사면들(44, 46)의 조정 작용이 시작하도록 허용한다. 바닥벽(52)의 개방구(50)는 다이어프램(38) 아래쪽 부피를 주위 공기와 통기시키는 역할을 한다.

Claims (3)

  1. 가변 압력의 유체를 유체 공급원으로부터 수용하고 대체로 일정한 압력으로 상기 유체를 유체 도포기 등으로 이송하기 위한 조절 밸브이며,
    컵형 베이스에 결합된 캡을 갖는 외측 하우징과,
    상기 하우징의 내부를 헤드부와 베이스부로 구획하는 차단벽과,
    상기 베이스부를 유체 챔버와 스프링 챔버로 구획하는 조정 조립체와,
    상기 헤드부를 상기 유체 공급원에 연결하는, 상기 캡 내의 유입구와,
    상기 헤드부를 상기 유체 챔버로 연결하며, 상기 밸브의 제1 중심축과 정렬되는, 상기 차단벽 내의 포트와,
    상기 유체 챔버와 연통하며, 상기 제1 축에 횡단하는 제2 축 상에서 정렬되는, 상기 캡 내의 출구와,
    상기 조정 조립체로부터 상기 제1 축을 따라 상기 포트를 관통하여 상기 헤드부 내로 돌출하는 스템과,
    상기 제1 축을 따르는 양 방향으로의 이동을 위해 상기 하우징 내에서 상기 조정 조립체를 지지하는 가요성 다이어프램과,
    상기 스프링 챔버 내의 스프링을 포함하며,
    상기 스프링은, 상기 다이어프램이 상기 차단벽과 밀봉 접촉하여 상기 헤드부로부터 상기 포트 및 유체 챔버를 거친 상기 출구 쪽으로의 유체 유동을 차단하는 폐쇄 위치로 상기 조정 조립체를 탄성적으로 가압하도록 배열되며,
    상기 스프링은 상기 조정 조립체 및 이로부터 돌출하는 스템과 협력 작용하여 상기 입력부 내의 가변 유체 압력의 반대 작용으로서 상기 포트의 크기를 조정하고 이에 따라 상기 출구에 이송된 유체의 압력이 대체로 일정한 레벨로 유지되며,
    상기 밸브는 상기 조정 조립체 상에 작용하는 유체의 압력이 임계 레벨을 초과할 때 자동적으로 작동하고, 상기 압력이 상기 임계 레벨 미만으로 떨어질 때 자동적으로 폐쇄되는 조절 밸브.
  2. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 다이어프램의 외주연은 상기 캡 및 컵형 베이스의 대향면들 사이에서 포획되고 유지되는 조절 밸브.
  3. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 컵형 베이스는 상기 캡 내에 수납된 원통벽 세그먼트를 포함하며, 상기 다이어프램의 외주연은 상기 벽 세그먼트의 림과 상기 캡 상의 내향 돌출 렛지 사이에 포획되고 유지되는 조절 밸브.
