Description

本願は、2005年3月22日に出願された米国仮特許出願第60/644,299号に基づく優先権を主張する。
本発明は、全体として流体弁に関し、特に、通常は閉じていて選択された閾値レベルを超える可変の流体圧が生じると開き、開くと一定の圧力と流量で流体を送る調整弁に関する。
上述した種類の調整弁は、例えば米国特許第6,026,850号および第6,209,578号に開示されるように周知のものである。

これらの周知の弁は十分に問題なく機能するが、特定の使用においては、非常に複雑であったり、高価であったり、また炭酸飲料や非炭酸飲料のディスペンサなどの液体分配装置内の限られた空間にこれらの設計を組み込むには困難が伴ったりする。
図1には、本発明による調整弁10の全体が示されている。弁は、互いに噛み合う外部フランジ16,18においてキャップ12がカップ形状のベース14と接合し、フランジの間にOリングシール20が挿入されている外部ハウジングを備える。
ハウジングの内部は、障壁22によってヘッド部24とベース部26とに分けられている。キャップ12の流入口28は、圧力が閾値レベルの上下で変化する流体供給源(図示せず)と接続するように設けられている。障壁22内にある流入口28と中央ポート30は、弁の中心軸Aと一直線に並んでいる。また、キャップ12内の流出ポート31は、第1の軸Aと交差する第2の軸Aと一直線に並んでいる。
調整アセンブリ32は、障壁22と協働してベース部を流体チャンバ23’とばねチャンバ23”とに分離する。調整アセンブリは、流入口28の流体圧が閾値の圧力を下回ったときに流体が弁を通過しないように働く。流入口の流体圧が閾値の圧力を上回ったときは、調整アセンブリは、流体が一定の圧力と流量でヘッド部24からポート30を通ってチャンバ23’に流れ、さらに流出ポート31に流れるように働く。流出ポート31、下流側のオリフィス、または流れ制御装置(図示せず)は、流体チャンバ23’に背圧を発生させるように働く。
調整アセンブリ32は、中空シェル34と中央プラグ36とを有するピストンを備える。ピストンは、軸Aに沿って相反する方向に動くように柔軟性のある環状の隔壁38に支持されている。隔壁の内縁は、シェル34とプラグ36との間に挟まれている。カップ形状のベース14は、キャップ12内に収まる円筒状の壁セグメント14’を備える。隔壁の外縁は、壁セグメント14’の上縁15とキャップの内側に突き出ている内部レッジ17との間に挟まれている。
ピストンのプラグ36のステム40は、ポート30を通ってヘッド部24に突き出ている。ステム上の拡大ヘッド42はテーパ下面44を有し、この下面は障壁のテーパ面46と協働して、ポート30を通る流路の大きさを、流入部における可変の流体圧の逆関数として調整し、一定の圧力と流量で流体を流出口31に送る。
ばねチャンバ23”内の圧縮ばね48は、シェル34の下面とハウジングのベース14の底壁52との間に挟まれている。ばねは、調整アセンブリ32を障壁22に向かって押し付ける。流入口28の流体圧が閾値の圧力を下回ると、ばね48は調整アセンブリ32を障壁22に押し付け、これによって流体が流体チャンバ23’から流出口31’に流れないようにすることができる。流体圧が閾値の圧力を上回ると、流体圧がばね48の弾性的な閉じる力よりも大きくなり、ピストンアセンブリが障壁から離れ、協働するテーパ面44,46による調整機能が働き始める。底壁52の開口部50は、隔壁38の下の容積部分の空気を周囲大気に排気するように設けられている。

Claims (3)

  1. 流体源から可変圧の流体を受けて、前記流体を一定の圧力で流体アプリケータなどに送るための調整弁であって、
    カップ形状のベースに接合されたキャップを有する外部ハウジングと、
    前記ハウジング内部をヘッド部とベース部とに分ける障壁と、
    前記ベース部を流体チャンバとばねチャンバとに分ける調整アセンブリと、
    前記キャップに設けられ、前記ヘッド部を前記流体源に接続する流入口と、
    前記弁の中央の第1の軸に沿って前記障壁に設けられ、前記ヘッド部を前記流体チャンバに接続するポートと、
    前記第1の軸と交差する第2の軸に沿って前記キャップに設けられ、前記流体チャンバと接続されている流出口と、
    前記調整アセンブリから前記第1の軸に沿って前記ポートを通って前記ヘッド部に突き出ているステムと、
    柔軟性のある隔壁であって、前記調整アセンブリが前記第1の軸に沿って相反する方向に動くように前記ハウジング内で前記調整アセンブリを支持する、柔軟性のある隔壁と、
    前記ばねチャンバに設けられたばねと、を備え、前記ばねは、前記隔壁が前記障壁と密封接触して流体が前記ヘッド部から前記ポートと前記流体チャンバを通って前記流出口へ流れない閉鎖位置まで、前記調整アセンブリを弾性的に押し付け、また前記ばねは、前記調整アセンブリと前記調整アセンブリから突き出ている前記ステムと協働して、前記流入部における可変の流体圧の逆関数として前記ポートの大きさを調整して、前記流出口に送られる前記流体の圧力を一定のレベルで維持し、前記弁は、前記調整アセンブリに作用する前記流体の圧力が閾値レベルを上回ると自動的に動き、前記圧力が前記閾値レベルを下回ると自動的に閉じる、
    調整弁。
  2. 請求項1に記載の弁であって、前記キャップと前記カップ形状のベースとが互いに向かい合う面の間に前記隔壁の外縁が挟まれて保持されている弁。
  3. 請求項1に記載の弁であって、前記カップ形状のベースが、前記キャップ内に収まる円筒状の壁セグメントを備え、前記壁セグメントの縁と前記キャップの内側に突き出ているレッジとの間に前記隔壁の外縁が挟まれて保持されている弁。
