Description
Claims (30)
- 복수의 셀룰러 무선전화기;신호를 지구에 보내는 하나 이상의 통신위성;상기 셀룰러 무선전화기로 부터 나오는 통신 신호를 송수신하는 하나 이상의 기지국;상기 하나 이상의 기지국으로 부터 나오는 통신 신호를 송수신하는 셀룰러 무선전화기;위성 신호 데이타를 사용하여 셀룰러 무선전화기의 정확한 공간적 위치를 결정하며 통신위성과 통신을 하기 위해 상기 셀룰러 무선전화기내에 있는 위치선정시스템; 및셀룰러 무선전화기 통신 신호의 질이 예정치보다 낮을 때 위치선정 시스템을 포함한 셀룰러 무선전화기의 드롭오프 또는 핸드오프를 수행하는 기지국을 포함하며, 상기 드롭오프 또는 핸드오프 결정은 시스템 성능저하에 앞서서 셀룰러 무선전화기의 공간위치를 기초하여 수행되는 통신 시스템.
- 제 1 항에 있어서, 통신 신호가 코드분할 다중접근(CDMA) 신호임을 특징으로 하는 통신 시스템.
- 제 1 항에 있어서, 위치선정 시스템을 포함한 셀룰러 무선전화기의 공간위치가 위성신호의 타이밍에 기초한 3각 측량법을 사용하여 결정됨을 특징으로 하는 통신 시스템.
- 제 1 항에 있어서, 위치선정 시스템을 포함한 셀룰러 무선전화기의 핸드오프가 상기 기지국들중 또다른 기지국으로의 핸드오프임을 특징으로 하는 통신 시스템.
- 제 1 항에 있어서, 위치선정 시스템을 포함한 셀룰러 무선전화기의 핸드오프가 또다른 주파수로의 핸드오프임을 특징으로 하는 통신 시스템.
- 제 1 항에 있어서, 상기 셀룰러 무선전화기의 위치선정 시스템이 전역 위치선정 시스템(GPS)이며, 셀룰러 무선전화기가 상기 위성의 위치 데이타를 저장하는 데이타 저장영역, 상기 위성과 동기화되는 클록, 소프트웨어 프로그램을 포함하는 코드 저장 영역, 및 상기 소프트웨어 프로그램을 실행하는 마이크로프로세서를 더욱 포함함을 특징으로 하는 통신 시스템.
- 제 6 항에 있어서, 상기 전역 위치선정 시스템이 상기 셀룰러 무선전화기내에 있지는 않지만 셀룰러 무선전화기에 부착가능한 보조품임을 특징으로 하는 통신 시스템.
- 제 6 항에 있어서, 상기 소프트웨어 프로그램이 셀룰러 무선전화기에 가장 가까운 기지국을 결정함을 특징으로 하는 통신 시스템.
- 제 6 항에 있어서, 상기 소프트웨어 프로그램이 상기 셀룰러 무선전화기를 기지국에 등록시키고 기지국으로 부터 나오는 페이지를 수신하고 기지국에 셀룰러 무선전화기의 공간위치를 송신함을 특징으로 하는 통신 시스템.
- 제 9 항에 있어서, 상기 소프트웨어 프로그램이 셀룰러 무선전화기 통신신호의 질이 예정치보다 낮은 지점과 상기 셀룰러 무선전화기간의 거리를 계산하고 계산된 거리를 사용하여 셀룰러 무선전화기가 핸드오프되어야 하는지 여부를 결정함을 특징으로 하는 통신 시스템.
- 제 9 항에 있어서, 상기 소프트웨어 프로그램이 상기 셀룰러 무선전화기와 기지국간의 거리를 계산하고 계산된 결과로 부터 셀룰러 무선전화기가 핸드오프되어야 하는지 여부를 결정함을 특징으로 하는 통신 시스템.
- 제 9 항에 있어서, 상기 소프트웨어 프로그램이 상기 셀룰러 무선전화기와 기지국간의 거리를 계산하고 기지국의 위치와 기지국에 의해 셀룰러 무선전화기에 전송된 예정된 거리값에 기초하여 셀룰러 무선전화기가 드롭오프되어야 하는지 여부를 결정함을 특징으로 하는 통신 시스템.
- 제 1 항에 있어서, 상기 기지국이 위치선정 시스템을 포함한 셀룰러 무선전화기와 기지국간의 거리를 계산하고 계산된 결과로 부터 셀룰러 무선전화기가 핸드오프되어야 하는지 여부를 결정함을 특징으로 하는 통신 시스템.
- 제 1 항에 있어서, 상기 기지국이 위치선정시스템을 포함한 셀룰러 무선전화기와 셀룰러 무선전화기 통신 신호의 질이 예정치보다 낮은 지점간의 거리를 계산하고 계산된 거리로 부터 셀룰러 무선전화기가 핸드오프되어야 하는지 여부를 결정함을 특징으로 하는 통신 시스템.
- 제 1 항에 있어서, 상기 기지국이 위치선정 시스템을 포함한 셀룰러 무선전화기중 하나가 핸드오프될 경우에만 페이지를 전송함을 특징으로 하는 통신 시스템.
- 제 1 항에 있어서, 기지국이 위치선정 시스템을 포함한 셀룰러 무선전화기와 기지국간의 거리를 계산하고 계산된 결과로 부터 셀룰러 무선전화기가 드롭오프되어야 하는지 여부를 결정함을 특징으로 하는 통신 시스템.
- 위치선정시스템을 사용하여 셀룰러 무선전화기의 정확한 공간위치를 결정하고;셀룰러 무선전화기의 공간위치에 기초하여 셀룰러 무선전화기 통신신호의 질을 미리 결정하고;셀룰러 무선전화기 통신 신호의 질이 제 1 예정치보다 낮을 경우에 셀룰러 무선전화기의 드롭오프를 수행하고;셀룰러 무선전화기 통신 신호의 질이 제 2 예정치보다 낮을 경우에 셀룰러 무선전화기의 핸드오프를 수행하는 단계를 포함하며, 하나이상의 통신 위성으로 부터 수신된 신호에 기초하여 무선전화기의 공간위치를 빠르게 결정하는 위치선정 시스템을 가지며 셀룰러 무선전화기에서 나오는 통신 신호를 송수신하는 하나 이상의 기지국에 의해 제어되는 셀룰러 무선전화기에 의해 사용되는 방법.
- 제 17 항에 있어서, 위치선정 시스템을 포함하는 셀룰러 무선전화기의 핸드오프가 상기 기지국들중 또다른 기지국으로의 핸드오프임을 특징으로 하는 방법.
- 제 17 항에 있어서, 위치선정 시스템을 포함하는 셀룰러 무선전화기의 핸드오프가 또다른 주파수로의 핸드오프임을 특징으로 하는 방법.
- 제 17 항에 있어서, 통신 신호가 코드분할 다중접근(CDMA) 신호이며 상기 셀룰러 무선전화기 위치선정 시스템이 전역 위치선정 시스템(GPS)임을 특징으로 하는 방법.
