Description

핸드헬드 청소기{HANDHELD CLEANING APPLIANCE}
본 발명은 핸드헬드 청소기, 특히 핸드헬드 진공 청소기에 관한 것이지만, 이에 한정되지는 않는다. 더욱 구체적으로, 본 발명은 원심 분리기(cyclonic separator)를 가지는 핸드헬드 청소기에 관한 것이다.
핸드헬드 진공 청소기는 널리 알려져 있고, 수년 동안 여러 제조사에 의해 제조되어 판매되고 있다. 전형적으로, 핸드헬드 진공 청소기는 유입구(inlet)를 통하여 청소기 내로 공기를 빨아들이는 모터 및 팬 유닛, 및 필터 또는 주머니(bag)와 같은, 들어오는 기류로부터 쓰레기 및 먼지(dirty and dust)를 분리하는 분리 디바이스를 수용하는 케이싱을 포함한다. 진공 청소기의 일례는 특허문헌 GB 1 207 278에 나타나 있다.

도 1 내지 도 3은 은 핸드헬드 진공 청소기(10)를 나타낸다. 핸드헬드 진공 청소기(10)는 모터 및 팬 유닛(도시하지 않음)을 수용하는 본체(12)를 가진다. 본체(12)는 또한 배터리와 같은 전원(power source)(14)을 포함한다. 본체(12)에는 핸드헬드 진공 청소기(10)를 사용 시에 조작하기 위한 핸들(handle)(16)이 제공되어 있다. 원심 분리기(100)는 본체(12)에 장착되어 있다. 더러운 공기 유입구(18)는 본체(12)로부터 멀리 떨어진 원심분리기(100)의 부분으로부터 연장된다. 브러시 도구(bruch tool)(22)는 더러운 공기 유입부(18)의 원단부(distal end)에 슬라이딩 가능하게 탑재되어 있다. 본체(12)에는 핸드헬드 진공 청소기(10)로부터 공기를 배출하기 위한 한 세트의 배출 벤트(exhaust vent)(24)가 제공되어 있다.

덮개(shroud)(121)는 사이클론(102)의 벽(104) 안쪽에 위치되어 있다. 덮개(121)는 복수의 관통 구멍(123)을 가지는, 일부는 원통형이고 일부는 사다리꼴(frustoconical)인 벽(122)을 포함한다. 덮개(121)는 제1 사이클론(102)의 유출구(124)를 둘러싼다. 유출구(124)는 제1 사이클론(102)과 제2 사이클론 어셈블리(126) 사이에 연결 통로를 제공한다. 덮개(121)의 베이스에 립(128)이 제공되어 있다. 이 립(128)은 공기는 통과시키지만 쓰레기 및 먼지는 포획하도록 설계된 복수의 관통 구멍을 가진다.
제2 사이클론 어셈블리(126)는 서로 평행하게 배치된 복수의 제2 사이클론(130)을 포함한다. 본 실시예에서는, 6개의 제2 사이클론(130)을 제공한다. 제2 사이클론(130)은 제1 사이클론(102)의 축(X-X) 주위에 배치되어 있다. 제2 사이클론(130)은 축(X-X) 주위에 등각으로 간격을 둔 구성으로 되어 있다. 각각의 제2 사이클론(130)은 접선 방향으로 배치된 공기 유입구 및 각각의 제2 사이클론(130)의 제1 단부에 위치된 공기 유출구(도시하지 않음)를 가진다. 제2 사이클(130) 각각의 제2 단부에는 원뿔형 개구부(cone opening)(136)가 위치되어 있다. 각각의 제2 사이클(130)의 원뿔형 개구부(136)의 면(plane)은, 각각의 제2 사이클론(130)의 길이 방향의 축(도시하지 않음)에 대하여 경사져 있다. 각각의 제2 사이클론(130)의 원뿔형 개구부(136)는 덮개(121)의 안쪽에 위치된 벽(140)에 의해 정해지는 통로(138)와 연결되어 있다.
각각의 제2 사이클론(130)의 제2 단부는 제1 사이클론(102)의 내부로 돌출되어 있다. 그러나, 각각의 제2 사이클론(130)의 제1 단부는 제1 사이클론(102)의 외피(envelope) 바깥쪽에 위치한다. 도시된 배향에서, 제1 사이클론(102)의 상단부 내로 돌출되는 것은 제2 사이클론(130) 각각의 하단부이다. 유입구(110)는 또한 제1 사이클론(102)의 상단부에, 제1 사이클론(102))과 제2 사이클론(130)이 중첩되는 원심 분리기(00)의 영역 내에 위치되도록 배치된다. 제2 사이클론(130)의 제1 단부가 제1 사이클론(102)의 외피 바깥쪽에 위치하기 때문에, 원심 분리기(100)의 이 영역은 원심 분리기(100)의 상단부와 원심 분리기(100)의 하단부 중간에 위치한다. 더러운 공기 유입구(18)를 원심 분리기(100)의 중간 부분에서 원심 분리기(100)에 연결하는 것은, 핸드헬드 진공 청소기(10)의 조작에 유리하고, 기기의 하부 말단(lower extremity)이 청소되는 범위로부터 떨어져 있는 면에 잘못하여 부딪치는 것을 방지한다.
집진기(142)는 통로(138)의 하단부에 위치되어 있다. 집진기(142)는 사다리꼴의 제1 부분(144)과 원통형의 제2 부분(146)을 포함한다. 집진기(142)의 내부는 베이스(116)와 집진기(142)의 제1 부분(144) 및 제2 부분(146)의 측면에 의해 정해진다.
제2 사이클론(130)의 공기 유출구(134) 각각은 덕트(duct)(150)와 연결되어 있다. 덕트(150)는 원심 분리기(100)로부터 핸드헬드 진공 청소기(10)의 다른 부분으로의 기류 통로를 제공한다. 덕트(150)의 하류 단부에는 프리모터 필터(pre-moter filter)(152)가 위치되어 있다. 프리모터 필터(152)는 발포체(form)와 같은 다공성 물질(porous material)을 포함할 수 있으며, 미세 필터 재료(fine filter material)을 포함할 수도 있다. 프리모터 필터(152)는 임의의 미세 먼지 입자가 모터 내로 들어와 모터를 손상시키는 것을 방지하도록 설계되어 있다.
사용 시에, 온/오프 스위치(20)를 누르면, 모터 및 팬 유닛은 쓰레기가 포함된 공기의 흐름을, 더러운 공기 유입구(18) 내로 빨아들인 후, 원심 분리기(100) 내로 빨아들인다. 쓰레기가 포함된 공기는 유입구(110)를 통하여 원심 분리기(100)로 들어간다. 유입구(110)의 접선 구성(tangential arrangement)에 의해, 기류는 벽(104)의 내부 둘레의 나선 통로를 따라가게 된다. 큰 쓰레기 및 먼지 입자는 벽(104) 주위의 원심 운동에 의해 분리된다. 이 입자들은 그 후 사이클론(102)의 베이스(116)에 모인다.
부분적으로 깨끗해진 기류는 그 후 제1 사이클론(102)의 내부를 역류하여 덮개(121)의 관통 구멍을 통하여 제1 사이클론(102)을 나간다. 일단 기류가 덮개(121)를 통과하면, 유출구(130)로 들어가고 그곳에서 각각의 제2 사이클론(130)의 접선 유입구 사이에서 나뉜다. 각각의 제2 사이클론(130)은 제1 사이클론(102)보다 직경이 작다. 그러므로 제2 사이클론(130)은 제1 사이클론(102)에서보다 더 작은 입자의 쓰레기 및 먼지를 부분적으로 깨끗해진 기류로부터 분리할 수 있다. 분리된 쓰레기 및 먼지는 원뿔형의 개구부(136)를 통하여 제2 사이클론(130)을 나간다. 그 후, 분리된 쓰레기 및 먼지는 통로(138)를 지나 집진기(142)로 들어간다. 결국 분리된 쓰레기 및 먼지는 베이스(116) 상의 집진기(142)의 바닥에 가라앉는다.
그 후, 깨끗한 공기는 추가 사이클론(130)을 역류하여, 공기 유출구를 통하여 제2 사이클론(130)을 나가 덕트(150)로 들어간다. 깨끗해진 공기는 그 후 덕트(150)를 통과한 후, 프리모터 필터(152), 모터 및 팬 유닛, 그리고 포스트모터 필터(post-moter filter)를 차례로 지난 후, 공기 배출 벤트(24)를 통하여 핸드헬드 진공 청소기(10)로부터 배출된다.
고정쇠(120)를 해방하여 베이스(116)가 힌지(118)에 대하여 선회할 수 있도록 함으로써 제1 사이클론(102) 및 집진기(142)를 동시에 비울 수 있게 하여, 분리된 쓰레기 및 먼지를 원심 분리기(100)로부터 제거할 수 있다. 이것은 사용자가 돌출부(156)를 스프링의 편향 작용(biasing action)에 대하여 아래 방향으로 눌러, 다른 돌출부(160)가 고정쇠(120)외 접촉하게 함으로써 이루어진다. 고정쇠(120)는 립(150)으로부터 탄력적으로 변형되어, 립(150)으로부터 해방된다. 돌출부(156)가 더욱 아래 방향으로 움직이면, 베이스(116)와 벽(104) 사이의 밀폐 상태가 파괴되고, 그 후, 베이스(116)는 벽(104)과 떨어져 아래 방향으로 흔들린다. 그러면 원심 분리기(100)에 모인 쓰레기 및 먼지는 제1 사이클론(102)과 집진기(142)로부터 제거될 수 있다. 핸드헬드 진공 청소기(10)를 쓰레기통과 같은 적당한 쓰레기 용기 위에 위치시켜, 원심 분리기(100) 내에 모인 쓰레기 및 먼지를 효과적이고 확실하게 비울 수 있다.
전술한 바와 같이 원심 분리기(100)를 비웠으면, 사용자는 베이스(116)를 도 1 및 도 2에 나타낸 폐쇄 위치로 다시 이동시켜 원심 분리기(100)를 닫을 수 있다. 다르게는, 폐쇄 위치 내로 베이스(116)가 흔들리도록 청소기를 조작할 수 있다. 또한 다르게는, 베이스(116)에 폐쇄력(closing force)을 가하여 베이스(116)가 립(150)과 접촉하여 걸쇠에 걸리도록, 청소기를 면(surface) 위에 위치시킬 것이다. 힌지(118)의 존재는 원심 분리기(100)를 비울 수 있게 해주며, 그 후 베이스(116)가 오정렬(misalignment)될 아무런 위험 없이 닫을 수 있게 해준다. 베이스(116)의 오정렬은 기기의 성능을 해할 것이다.
본 발명은 전술한 실시예에 나타낸 바로 그 세부사항으로 한정되는 것은 아니다. 예를 들면, 원뿔의 각도, 축의 경사도, 원뿔형 개구의 경사도와 같은 설계의 세부사항을 변경할 수 있는 것처럼, 제1 사이클론 및 제2 사이클론의 수를 변경할 수 있다. 힌지 및 고정쇠의 정확한 위치, 그리고 액추에이터의 위치를 변경할 수 있는 것처럼, 집진기 및 베이스의 형상을 변경할 수 있다.

Claims (6)

  1. 더러운 공기 유입구(18), 깨끗한 공기 유출구(24), 및 상기 공기 유입구(18)로부터 상기 공기 유출구(24)에 이르는 기류 통로(airflow path)에 위치하여 기류로부터 쓰레기 및 먼지를 분리하는 분리 장치(100)를 포함하는 핸드헬드 청소기(10)로서,
    상기 분리 장치(100)는, 길이 방향의 축(X-X)를 가진 제1 사이클론(102)을 가지는 원심 분리기; 벽(104)과 베이스 부재(base member)(116)를 가지는 집진기(collector)(105) ― 상기 베이스 부재(116)는 고정쇠(catch)(120)에 의해 폐쇄 위치로 유지되고, 상기 벽(104)의 제1 측에서 힌지(118)에 의해 상기 벽(104)에 선회 가능하게 연결되어 있음―; 및 상기 제1 사이클론(102)의 상기 길이 방향의 축(X-X)의 주위로 서로 평행하게 배열된 복수의 제2 사이클론을 포함하며,
    상기 핸드헬드 청소기는, 먼지가 포함된 기류를 상기 공기 유입구(18) 및 상기 분리 장치(100) 안으로 흡입하기 위한 팬 유닛 및 모터를 수납한 본체(12)를 더 포함하고,
    상기 본체(12)는 청소기(10)를 조작하기 위한 핸들(16), 및 상기 집진기(105)와 상기 핸들(16) 사이에서 상기 집진기(105)의 벽(104)을 따라 길게 연장된 부분을 포함하며, 상기 본체(12)의 길게 연장된 부분은 상기 고정쇠(120)를 동작시키는 액추에이터(actuator)(152)를 포함하고,
    상기 액추에이터(152)는 작동 위치(actuating position)와 비작동 위치(inoperative position) 사이를 이동할 수 있는 슬라이딩 가능하게(slidably) 탑재된 로드(rod)(154)를 포함하되, 상기 로드(154)는 상기 집진기(105)를 청소기(10)로부터 분리하지 않고 상기 집진기(105)를 비우도록 상기 고정쇠(120)의 일부와 접촉하여 상기 집진기(105)를 개방하는, 핸드헬드 청소기(10).
  2. 제1항에 있어서,
    상기 고정쇠(120)는 상기 힌지(118)에 대하여 직경 방향으로 반대쪽(diametrically opposed)의 위치에 제공되어 있는, 핸드헬드 청소기(10).
  3. 제1항 또는 제2항에 있어서,
    상기 로드(154)는 상기 비작동 위치로 편향되어 있는, 핸드헬드 청소기(10).
  4. 제1항 또는 제2항에 있어서,
    상기 로드(154)는 상기 본체(12)에 대하여 수동으로 이동시킬 수 있는 돌출부(160)를 포함하는, 핸드헬드 청소기(10).
  5. 제1항 또는 제2항에 있어서,
    상기 로드(154)는 상기 본체(12)의 일부 내부에 위치되어 있는, 핸드헬드 청소기(10).
  6. 제1항 또는 제2항에 있어서,
    상기 집진기(105)의 일부분은 상기 본체(12)의 일부분에 인접하여 위치하고 있는, 핸드헬드 청소기(10).
