본 발명은 커튼 에어백에 관한 것으로서, 특히 쿠션의 전개시 필러 트림의 비산을 방지토록 쿠션과 필러 트림을 결합시키는 커튼 에어백에 관한 것이다.
일반적으로 차량용 에어백은 일정 크기 이상의 충돌사고 발생시 에어백을 풍선처럼 부풀게 함으로써 에어백의 쿠션 작용에 의해 승객의 충격을 완화하고 승객이 차체 밖으로 퉁겨 나가는 것을 방지하는 안전장치이다.
이와 같은 에어백은 정면 충돌시 앞좌석 승객을 보호하는 운전석 에어백(Driver Air-Bag, DAB) 및 조수석 에어백(PAB)과, 측면 충돌시 승객의 옆을 보호하는 사이드 에어백(SAB) 및 커튼 에어백(CAB) 등 다양한 유형이 있다.
도 1,2는 여러 유형의 에어백 중 커튼 에어백을 나타내는 도면이다.
도 1,2에 도시된 바와 같은 커튼 에어백은, 쿠션(2)이 차체 필러(10)와 필러 트림(12) 사이에 일정 형태로 폴딩된 상태로 설치되고, 고압의 전개 가스를 공급하는 인플레이터와 연결되도록 구성된다.
이와 같이 구성된 커튼 에어백은, 충돌 또는 전복 등의 사고 발생시 상기 인플레이터로부터 상기 쿠션(2)으로 고압의 전개 가스가 공급되게 함으로써, 상기 쿠션(2)이 상기 인플레이터로부터 공급된 고압의 가스에 의해 풍선처럼 점점 팽창됨에 따라 상기 필러 트림(12)의 끝단부위가 차체 필러(10)로부터 벌어지고, 상기 쿠션(2)이 상기 차체 필러(10)와 필러 트림(12)의 벌어진 사이를 통해 커튼처럼 하향 전개되게 한다.
그러나, 상기한 바와 같은 종래 기술에 따른 커튼 에어백은, 도 1에 점선으로 도시된 바와 같이, 상기 쿠션(2)의 전개시 상기 필러 트림(12)이 필요 이상으로 차체 필러(10)로부터 벌어짐으로써 비산되는 문제점이 있다.
본 발명은 상기한 종래 기술의 문제점을 해결하기 위하여 안출된 것으로서, 쿠션의 전개시 필러 트림의 비산을 방지할 수 있는 커튼 에어백을 제공하는데 그 목적이 있다.
상기한 과제를 해결하기 위한 본 발명에 따른 커튼 에어백은, 차체 필러와 필러 트림 사이에 하향 전개 가능토록 설치된 쿠션과; 상기 쿠션과 연결되어 사고 발생시 상기 쿠션을 전개시킬 수 있는 인플레이터와; 상기 쿠션의 필러 트림 결합부가 끼워지고 상기 필러 트림에 결합되는 클립을 포함하여 구성된다.
이하, 본 발명의 실시 예를 첨부된 도 3 내지 도 6을 참조하여 상세히 설명한다.
도 3은 본 발명에 따른 커튼 에어백의 전개 전 단면도이고, 도 4는 본 발명 에 따른 커튼 에어백의 전개시 단면도이고, 도 5는 본 발명에 따른 커튼 에어백의 요부 구성의 조립 전 사시도이고, 도 6은 본 발명에 따른 커튼 에어백의 요부 구성의 조립 후 사시도이다.
본 발명에 따른 커튼 에어백은, 차체 필러(50)와 필러 트림(52) 사이에 하향 전개 가능토록 설치된 쿠션(60)과, 상기 쿠션(60)과 연결되어 사고 발생시 상기 쿠션(60)을 전개시킬 수 있는 인플레이터와, 상기 쿠션(60)과 필러 트림(52)을 결합시키는 필러 트림 결합수단을 포함하여 구성된다.
상기 필러 트림 결합수단은 상기 쿠션(60)과 필러 트림(52)을 스크류 결합시킬 수 있는 스크류(70)를 포함하여 구성된다.
상기 스크류(70)는 상기 필러 트림(52)의 일측에서 차체 필러(50)를 향해 돌출된 필러 트림 보스(52a)를 통해 상기 필러 트림(52)과 결합될 수 있다.
상기 필러 트림 보스(52a)는 상기 쿠션(60)의 전개시 상기 필러 트림(52)의 끝단부위가 상기 차체 필러(50)로부터 충분히 벌어져야만 상기 쿠션(60)의 전개가 가능한 바, 상기 쿠션(60)보다 상측에 위치되는 것이 바람직하다.
또한, 상기 스크류(70)는 상기 쿠션(60)의 상단 일측에 귀와 같이 구비된 필러 트림 결합부(60a)에 결합될 수 있다.
한편, 상기 필러 트림 결합수단은 상기 쿠션(60)과 필러 트림(52)이 보다 더 견실하게 스크류(70) 결합될 수 있도록, 상기 쿠션(60)의 필러 트림 결합부(60a)가 끼워지는 클립(80)이 더 포함될 수 있다.
상기 클립(80)은 상기 클립(80)은 탄성력에 의해 벌어지거나 포개질 수 있도 록, 둘로 접혀지고 그 접힘 부위(80')가 상대적으로 다른 부위보다 얇은 한 쌍의 플레이트(82,84)로 이루어질 수 있다. 따라서, 상기 클립(80)은 상기 한 쌍의 플레이트(82,84)가 탄력적으로 벌어짐으로써 상기 쿠션(60)의 필러 트림 결합부(60a)가 끼워질 수 있고, 상기 쿠션(60)의 필러 트림 결합부(60a)가 끼워진 후 상기 한 쌍의 플레이트(82,84)가 복원력에 의해 포개짐으로써 상기 쿠션(60)의 필러 트림 결합부(60a)가 압착될 수 있다.
또한, 상기 필러 트림 결합수단은 상기 쿠션(60)의 미 전개시 상기 필러 트림(52)이 차체 필러(50)에 의해 지지될 수 있고, 상기 쿠션(60)의 전개시 상기 쿠션(60)의 전개를 방해하지 않도록 상기 차체 필러(50)로부터 약간 벌어질 수 있도록 하는 가이드 핀(90)이 더 포함될 수 있다.
상기 가이드 핀(90)은 상기 쿠션(60)의 미 전개시 상기 차체 필러(50)에 형성된 가이드 핀 홀(50a)에 끼워질 수 있고 아울러, 상기 쿠션(60)의 전개시 상기 차체 필러(50)로부터 이탈될 수 있도록, 상기 클립(80)의 차체 필러(50) 측 플레이트(82)와 일체로 형성될 수 있다.
상기 가이드 핀(90)은 상기 클립(80)의 필러 트림(52) 측 플레이트(84)의 핀 홀(84a)을 통과할 수 있도록 형성될 수 있다.
상기 가이드 핀(90)은 상기 클립(80)의 필러 트림(52) 측 끝단에 상기 클립(80)의 한 쌍의 플레이트(82,84)의 포개진 상태가 유지될 수 있도록 상기 클립(80)의 필러 트림(52) 측 플레이트(84)에 걸릴 수 있는 스토퍼(92)가 구비될 수 있다.
상기 가이드 핀(90)에는 상기 쿠션(60)과 필러 트림(52)를 스크류 결합시키 는 스크류(70)가 끼워질 수 있도록 스크류 홀(90a)이 형성될 수 있다.
상기와 같이 구성된 본 발명의 요부 조립과정을 살펴보면, 다음과 같다.
상기 쿠션(60)의 필러 트림 결합부(60a)를 상기 클립(80)이 한 쌍의 플레이트 사이에 끼우기 위해서는, 도 5에 도시된 바와 같이 먼저 상기 클립(80)의 한 쌍의 플레이트(82,84)를 충분히 벌리고, 그 상태에서 상기 쿠션(60)의 필러 트림 결합부(60a)를 상기 가이드 핀(90)에 끼운 다음, 상기 클립(80)의 한 쌍의 플레이트(82,84)를 다시 포개면 된다.
이 때, 도 6에 도시된 바와 같이, 상기 클립(80)의 한 쌍의 플레이트(82,84)가 포개질 때, 상기 가이드 핀(90)이 상기 클립(80)의 필러 트림(52) 측 플레이트(84)의 핀 홀(84a)에 끼워지면, 이와 동시에 상기 스토퍼(92)가 상기 클립(80)의 필러 트림(52) 측 플레이트(84)에 딸깍하고 걸리게 된다. 그러면, 상기 클립(80)의 한 쌍의 플레이트(82,84)가 벌어지도록 하는 외력이 더 이상 작용하지 않는 한 상기 스토퍼(92)에 의해 상기 클립(80)의 한 쌍의 플레이트(82,84)가 포개진 상태로 유지될 수 있다.
이와 같이 상기 쿠션(60)의 필러 트림 결합부(60a)가 상기 클립(80)에 결합된 상태에서 상기 가이드 핀(90)이 상기 차체 필러(50)의 가이드 핀 홀(50a)에 끼워지고, 상기 필러 트림(52)의 필러 트림 보스(52a)와 가이드 핀(90)에 스크류(70)가 체결되면, 상기 쿠션(60)과 필러 트림(52)이 결합되고 아울러, 상기 필러 트림(52)이 상기 차체 필러(50)에 의해 지지될 수 있다.
상기와 같이 조립 완료된 본 발명에 따른 쿠션(60)의 전개 과정을 살펴보면, 다음과 같다.
상기 쿠션(60)이 전개되면, 도 6에 도시된 바와 같이, 상기 가이드 핀(90)이 상기 차체 필러(50)의 가이드 핀(90)으로부터 빠지면서 상기 필러 트림(52)의 끝단부위가 차체 필러(50)로부터 벌어지고, 상기 쿠션(60)이 상기 차체 필러(50)와 필러 트림(52)의 벌어진 사이를 통해 커튼처럼 하향 전개된다.
이 때, 상기 쿠션(60)의 바로 위 상측에서 상기 쿠션(60)과 상기 필러 트림(52)이 스크류(70) 결합된 상태이기 때문에 상기 필러 트림(52)이 상기 쿠션(60)의 전개를 위한 필요 이상으로 상기 차체 필러(50)로부터 벌어지지 않는다. 즉, 상기 필러 트림(52)의 비산이 방지될 수 있다.
한편, 본원발명의 상세한 설명에는 본원발명의 필러 트림 결합수단의 일 실시 예로써 상기 스크류 결합방법에 대하여 기술하였지만, 본원발명의 필러 트림 결합수단은 볼트 결합 또는 본드, 찍찍이 등에 의한 접착 방법 등에 의한 실시 예 또한 가능하다.
상기와 같이 구성되는 본 발명에 따른 커튼 에어백은, 차체 필러와 필러 트림 사이에 하향 전개 가능토록 설치된 쿠션과, 상기 쿠션과 연결되어 사고 발생시 상기 쿠션을 전개시킬 수 있는 인플레이터와, 상기 쿠션과 필러 트림이 스크류 결합방식에 의해 서로 결합될 수 있도록 하는 필러 트림 결합수단을 포함하여 구성되기 때문에 상기 쿠션의 전개시 상기 필러 트림이 필요 이상으로 차체 필러로부터 벌어지는 것을 방지할 수 있는 이점이 있다.

Claims (8)

  1. 차체 필러와 필러 트림 사이에 하향 전개 가능토록 설치된 쿠션과;
    상기 쿠션과 연결되어 사고 발생시 상기 쿠션을 전개시킬 수 있는 인플레이터와;
    상기 쿠션의 필러 트림 결합부가 끼워짐과 아울러 상기 필러 트림에 결합되는 클립을 포함하여 구성된 것을 특징으로 하는 커튼 에어백.

    상기 클립은 탄성력에 의해 벌어지거나 포개질 수 있도록, 둘로 접혀지고 그 접힘 부위가 상대적으로 다른 부위보다 얇은 한 쌍의 플레이트로 형성된 것을 특징으로 하는 커튼 에어백.
  5. 제 4 항에 있어서,
    상기 클립에는 상기 차체 필러의 홀에 끼워지고 상기 쿠션의 전개시 상기 차체 필러로부터 이탈되는 가이드 핀이 구비된 것을 특징으로 하는 커튼 에어백.
  6. 제 5 항에 있어서,
    상기 가이드 핀은 상기 클립의 차체 필러 측 플레이트와 일체로 형성된 것을 특징으로 하는 커튼 에어백.
  7. 제 6 항에 있어서,
    상기 가이드 핀은 상기 클립의 필러 트림 측 플레이트에 형성된 핀 홀을 통과하여 상기 클립의 필러 트림 측 플레이트에 걸릴 수 있는 스토퍼가 구비된 것을 특징으로 하는 커튼 에어백.
  8. 제 5 항 내지 제 7 항 중 어느 한 항에 있어서,
    상기 가이드 핀에는 상기 쿠션과 필러 트림이 스크류 결합될 수 있도록 스크류 홀이 형성된 것을 특징으로 하는 커튼 에어백.
