Abstract

본 발명은 연료펌프로부터 공급된 연료를 연료필터로 압송하여 충진효율을 높일 수 있는 차량용 연료공급장치를 제공하는 것으로, 본 연료공급장치에서는 연료탱크(2)내에는 연료펌프(4)에서 압송된 연료에 의해 연료탱크(2)내의 연료를 고속으로 분사밸브(8)로 공급하는 연료공급모듈(10)을 채용하였다. 이 연료공급모듈(10)은 연료공급모듈(10)은 유입파이프(14)를 통해 연료펌프(4)에서 압송된 연료가 유입되는 유입구(P1)와, 유입된 연료가 유출파이프(16)를 통해 연료휠터(6)를 지나 분사밸브(8)로 배출되는 유출구(P2)와, 전방단은 유입구(P1)와 연통되고 후방단에는 벤투리관(26)이 형성된 수축단부(22) 및 끝단이 유출구(P2)와 연통된 확대단부(24)와, 유입구(P1)를 통해 유입된 연료가 벤투리관(26)을 지나면서 발생되는 부압에 의해 연료탱크(2)내의 연료가 고속으로 흡입되는 흡입구(P3)로 구성된다.

Description

차량용 연료공급장치
본 발명은 차량용 연료공급장치에 관한 것으로, 보다 상세하게는 연료펌프로 부터 공급된 연료를 연료필터로 압송하여 충진효율을 높일 수 있는 차량용 연료공급장치에 관한 것이다.
일반적으로, 자동차의 연료공급장치는 기관의 작동상태에 따라 최적으로 기관이 필요로 하는 연료를 기화기 또는 연료분사장치에 충분히 공급하는 역할을 하는 것으로, 이것은 연료를 저장하는 연료탱크와 연료탱크 내의 연료를 압송하는 연료펌프 및 연료탱크에서 공급되는 연료를 연소실로 공급하는 연료 공급파이프 등으로 구성된다.
연료탱크는 강판이나 플라스틱으로 제조되며, 대용량의 연료탱크에는 커브길 주행중에 연료가 한쪽으로 쏠리는 현상을 방지하는 칸막이(baffle)가 설치되어 있고, 탱크 내부에는 부압이 형성되지 않도록 하는 환기장치가 설치되어 있다.
제1도는 종래의 차량용 연료공급장치의 구성을 보인 블록도로 연료를 저장하고 있는 연료탱크(2)내에는 연료펌프(4)가 내장되어 있으며, 연료펌프(4)에 의해 압송된 연료는 연료휠터(6)로 보내진다. 연료휠터(6)를 지나면서 여과된 깨끗한 연료는 실린더 헤드에 설치된 분사밸브(8)에 의해 분산되어 연소된다.
이러한 구성을 지닌 종래의 차량용 연료공급장치에서는 연료탱크 내의 연료를 압송하기 위해 연료펌프의 용량이 커야 하며, 에너지가 많이 소비되는 문제가 있다. 또한, 연료탱크로부터 분사밸브까지 연결된 연료파이프의 길이가 상당히 길기 때문에, 연료펌프에 많은 무리가 가해져 고장이 자주 발생하게 된다.
이와 같은 문제점을 해결하기 위해 안출한 본 발명은 연료펌프에서 압송된 연료를 벤투리관을 통과시키는 과정에서 발생되는 부압을 이용하여 연료탱크 내의 연료를 빠른 속도로 분사밸브까지 공급할 수 있는 차량용 연료공급장치를 제공하는데 그 목적이 있다.

상술한 본 발명의 목적은 연료를 저장하고 있는 연료탱크와, 연료탱크내의 연료를 압송하는 연료펌프와, 연료펌프에 의해 압송된 연료중에 함유되어 있는 불순물을 제거하여 분사밸브로 보내는 연료휠터로 구성된 차량의 연료공급장치에 있어서, 연료탱크 내에는 연료펌프에서 압송된 연료에 의해 연료탱크 내의 연료를 고속으로 상기 분사밸브로 공급하는 연료공급모듈이 설치되어 있는 것을 특징으로 하는 차량용 연료공급장치에 의해 달성된다.
본 발명에 의하면, 연료탱크내의 연료를 빠른 속도로 분사밸브로 압송함으로써 충진효율이 좋아지며, 연료펌프의 용량을 줄일 수 있기 때문에 에너지의 소비면에서도 유리한 이점이 있다.
이하, 첨부한 제2도와 제3도를 참조하여 본 발명의 바람직한 실시예에 따른 차량용 연료공급장치에 대하여 상세히 설명한다.
제2도는 본 발명의 차량용 연료공급장치의 구성을 보인 블록도이고, 제3도는 본 발명에서 채용한 연료공급모듈의 구성을 보인 사시도이며, 제4도는 본 발명에서 채용한 연료공급모듈의 구성을 보인 단면도로, 제1도에서 설명한 종래의 연료공급장치와 동일한 부품은 동일한 부호로 설명한다.
먼저, 제2도에 도시한 바와 같이, 본 발명에 따른 연료공급장치의 개략적인 구성을 보면, 연료를 저장하고 있는 연료탱크(2)와, 이 연료탱크(2)내에 저장된 연료를 압송하는 연료펌프(4)와, 이 연료펌프(4)에서 압송된 연료에 의해 상기 연료탱크(2)내의 연료를 고속으로 연료휠터(6)로 공급되도록 하는 연료공급모듈(10)과, 상기 연료휠터(6)를 지나면서 깨끗해진 연료를 연소실로 분사하는 분사밸브(8)로 이루어져 있다. 여기에서, 본 발명의 연료공급모듈은 연료탱크(2)내에 설치되며, 연료펌프(4)의 하단에 장착하게 된다. 이에 대한 구조를 다음의 제3도와 제4도에서 설명한다.
제3도는 연료공급모듈(10)의 외형을 나타내는 도면으로, 이것은 대략적으로 연료펌프(4)의 하단에 장착되는 케이스(12)와, 상기 케이스(12)의 하단에 형성된 수납부(12a)에 장착되는 가속장치(20)로 구성되어 있다. 가속장치(20)에는 연료펌프(4)로부터 압송된 연료가 유입되는 유입파이프(14)와 유입된 연료 및 연료탱크내에 저장되어 있던 연료를 흡입하여 상기 연료휠터(6)로 보내기 위한 유출파이프(16)가 설치되어 있다.
이 가속장치(20)는 제4도에 도시한 바와 같이, 유입파이프(14)를 통해 상기 연료펌프(4)에서 압송된 연료가 유입되는 유입구(P1)와, 유입된 연료를 유출파이프(16)를 통해 연료휠터(6)를 지나 분사밸브(8)로 배출되는 유출구(P2)와, 전방단은 유입구(P1)와 연통되고 후방단에는 벤투리관(26)이 형성된 수축단부(22) 및 끝단이 유출구(P2)와 연통된 확대단부(24)와, 유입구(P1)를 통해 유입된 연료가 벤투리관(26)을 지나면서 발생되는 부압에 의해 연료탱크(2)내의 연료가 고속으로 흡입되는 흡입구(P3)로 구성되어 있다.
이러한 구성을 지닌 연료공급모듈(10)을 이용하여 연료를 고속으로 압송하는 과정을 설명한다.
유입파이프(14)를 통해 연료펌프(4)로부터 압송된 연료는 스풀밸브(20)의 유입구로 압송된 다음, 수축단부(22)에 형성된 벤투리관(26)을 지나게 된다. 벤투리관(26)의 직경(대략, 0.5mm)은 상당히 작기 때문에 연료가 흡입구(P3)상에 형성되어 있는 중앙의 공동부를 지나는 과정에서 압력강하가 발생된다. 이때 발생된 부압에 의해 연료탱크(2)내의 연료는 흡입구(P3)를 통해 빠른 속도로 흡입되어 유입구(P1)측으로 유입된 연료와 함께 고속으로 유출구(P2)를 통해 유출파이프(16)로 배출된다.
즉, 연료가 단면적이 급격히 작아지는 벤투리관(26)을 통과하는 과정에서 유체의 유동속도는 수축단부(22)의 전방단보다 벤투리관(26)이 형성된 후방단에서 더욱 빨라지며, 압력은 유속이 빠른 후방단에서 더 낮기 때문에, 연료탱크(2)내의 연료가 흡입구(P3)를 통해 고속으로 흡입되는 것이 가능하다.
이상으로 설명한 본 발명에 의하면, 연료탱크 내의 연료를 빠른 속도로 분사밸브로 압송함으로써 충진효율이 좋아지며, 연료펌프의 용량을 줄일 수 있기 때문에 에너지의 소비면에서도 유리하다.

Claims (2)

  1. 연료를 저장하고 있는 연료탱크(2)와, 상기 연료탱크(2)내의 연료를 압송하는 연료펌프(4)와, 상기 연료펌프(4)에 의해 압송된 연료중에 함유되어 있는 불순물을 제거하여 분사밸브(8)로 보내는 연료휠터(6)로 구성된 차량의 연료공급장치에 있어서, 상기 연료탱크(2)내에는 상기 연료펌프(4)에서 압송된 연료에 의해 상기 연료탱크(2)내의 연료를 상기 분사밸브(8)로 공급하는 연료공급모듈(10)이 설치되며, 상기 연료공급모듈(10)은 상기 연료펌프(4)의 하단에 장착되는 케이스(12)와, 상기 케이스(12)의 하단에 형성된 수납부(12a)에 장착되어 연료흐름속도를 가속시키는 가속장치(20)로 구성되는 것을 특징으로 하는 차량용 연료공급장치.
  2. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 가속장치(20)는, 유입파이프(14)를 통해 상기 연료펌프(4)에서 압송된 연료가 유입되는 유입구(P1)와, 유입된 연료가 유출파이프(16)를 통해 상기 연료휠터(6)를 지나 분사밸브(8)로 배출되는 유출구(P2)와, 전방단은 상기 유입구(P1)와 연통되고 후방단에는 벤투리관(26)이 형성된 수축단부(22) 및 끝단이 상기 유출구(P2)와 연통된 확대단부(24)와, 상기 유입구(P1)를 통해 유입된 연료가 상기 벤투리관(26)을 지나면서 발생되는 부압에 의해 상기 연료탱크(2)내의 연료가 고속으로 흡입되는 흡입구(P3)를 포함하여 이루어지는 것을 특징으로 하는 차량용 연료공급장치.
