含水ゲルの含水率は、次の式で算出される。
含水率=(Ww)÷(Ww+Ws)×100[質量%]
Ww:全重合工程の重合前の水性液に含まれる水分量から、乾燥工程により外部に抽出された水分量を差し引いた量に、粉末状無機凝集剤、後架橋剤等を混合する際に必要に応じて用いられる水分量を加えた含水ゲルの水分量。
Ws:含水ゲル状重合体を構成する水溶性エチレン性不飽和単量体、架橋剤、開始剤等の材料の仕込量から算出される固形分量。
還流冷却器、滴下ロート、窒素ガス導入管、及び、攪拌機を備えた内径110mm、2L容の、4箇所の側壁バッフル付き丸底円筒型セパラブルフラスコ(バッフル幅:7mm)を準備した。攪拌機としては、翼径50mmの4枚傾斜パドル翼(フッ素樹脂にて表面処理したもの)を2段で有する攪拌翼を用いた。このフラスコに、石油系炭化水素分散媒としてn−ヘプタン660mlを入れ、界面活性剤としてのソルビタンモノラウレート(ノニオンLP−20R、HLB値8.6、日油株式会社製)0.984gを加え、攪拌機の回転数を300rpmとして、50℃まで加熱した。加熱によって、ソルビタンモノラウレートをn−ヘプタンに溶解させた後、内温を40℃まで冷却した。
共沸蒸留により系外へ抜き出す水の量を112gに変更したこと、及び、後架橋剤としてのエチレングリコールジグリシジルエーテルの5質量%水溶液の代わりにエチレングリコールジグリシジルエーテル10質量%水溶液を4.97g(2.85ミリモル)を添加したこと以外は実施例1と同様にして、90.5gの吸水性樹脂粒子を得た。得られた吸水性樹脂粒子は、顆粒状(微細凹凸状)粒子が凝集した形態であった。得られた吸水性樹脂粒子は、その全体に占める250μm超850μm以下の粒子の割合が91質量%であり、250μm以下の粒子の割合が9質量%であった。中位粒子径は360μmであった。
共沸蒸留により系外へ抜き出す水の量を108gに変更したこと以外は実施例3と同様にして、90.4gの吸水性樹脂粒子を得た。得られた吸水性樹脂粒子は、顆粒状(微細凹凸状)粒子が凝集した形態であった。得られた吸水性樹脂粒子は、その全体に占める250μm超850μm以下の粒子の割合が91質量%であり、250μm以下の粒子の割合が9質量%であった。中位粒子径は360μmであった。

還流冷却器、滴下ロート、窒素ガス導入管、及び、攪拌機を備えた内径110mm、2L容の丸底円筒型セパラブルフラスコを準備した。攪拌機としては、翼径50mmの4枚傾斜パドル翼を2段で有する攪拌翼を用いた。このフラスコに、石油系炭化水素分散媒としてn−ヘプタン300gを入れ、界面活性剤としてのショ糖ステアリン酸エステル(リョートーシュガーエステルS−370、HLB値3、三菱化学フーズ株式会社製)0.74g、及び高分子系分散剤としての無水マレイン酸変性エチレン・プロピレン共重合体(ハイワックス1105A、三井化学株式会社製)0.74gを添加し、攪拌機の回転数を300rpmとして、80℃まで加熱した。加熱によって界面活性剤を溶解した後、50℃まで冷却した。
還流冷却器、滴下ロート、窒素ガス導入管、及び、攪拌機を備えた内径110mm、2L容の丸底円筒型セパラブルフラスコを準備した。攪拌機としては、翼径50mmの4枚傾斜パドル翼を2段で有する攪拌翼を用いた。このフラスコに、石油系炭化水素分散媒としてn−ヘプタン300gを入れ、界面活性剤としてのショ糖ステアリン酸エステル(リョートーシュガーエステルS−370、HLB値3、三菱化学フーズ株式会社製)0.74g、及び高分子系分散剤としての無水マレイン酸変性エチレン・プロピレン共重合体(ハイワックス1105A、三井化学株式会社製)0.74gを添加し、攪拌機の回転数を300rpmとして、80℃まで加熱した。加熱によって界面活性剤を溶解した後、50℃まで冷却した。
2L容のセパラブルフラスコに、195.36gの100%アクリル酸を加えた。当該セパラブルフラスコ内を撹拌しながら135.13gのイオン交換水を加え、氷浴下で357.93gの30%水酸化ナトリウムを滴下した。その後、104.73gの100%アクリル酸を加えて、中和度65mol%のアクリル酸部分中和液を調製した。
上記実施例及び比較例にて得られた吸水性樹脂粒子について、下記に示す各種の試験に供して評価した。結果を表1に示す。
吸水性樹脂粒子2.00gを量り取った綿袋(メンブロード60番、横100mm×縦200mm)を500mL容のビーカー内に設置した。吸水性樹脂粒子の入った綿袋中に0.9質量%塩化ナトリウム水溶液(生理食塩水)500gをママコができないように一度に注ぎ込み、綿袋の上部を輪ゴムで縛り、30分静置させることで吸水性樹脂粒子を膨潤させた。30分経過後の綿袋を、遠心力が167Gとなるよう設定した脱水機(株式会社コクサン製、品番:H−122)を用いて1分間脱水し、脱水後の膨潤ゲルを含んだ綿袋の質量Wa(g)を測定した。吸水性樹脂粒子を添加せずに同様の操作を行い、綿袋の湿潤時の空質量Wb(g)を測定し、以下の式から生理食塩水保水量を算出した。
生理食塩水保水量(g/g)=[Wa−Wb]/2.00
生理食塩水の吸水速度は、25℃±1℃に調節した室内でボルテックス法により測定した。具体的には、100ml容ビーカー内に入れた生理食塩水50±0.1gを恒温水槽にて25±0.2℃の温度に調整した後、マグネチックスターラーバー(8mmφ×30mm、リング無し)で600rpmに攪拌して渦を発生させた。吸水性樹脂粒子2.0±0.002gを、上記生理食塩水中に一度に添加し、吸水性樹脂粒子の添加後から、渦が消失し液面が平坦になるまでの時間(秒)を測定し、当該時間を吸水性樹脂粒子の生理食塩水の吸水速度とした。
吸水性樹脂粒子50gを粒度分布測定に用いた。
JIS標準篩を上から、目開き850μmの篩、目開き500μmの篩、目開き425μmの篩、目開き300μmの篩、目開き250μmの篩、目開き180μmの篩、目開き150μmの篩、及び受け皿の順に組み合わせた。
図1は、本実施形態に係る吸水性樹脂粒子の反発率測定方法を示す概略図である。シャーレ1(装置1:内径48mm、高さ15mm)に6.0gのイオン交換水3を入れた。次に、底面に100メッシュの金網11が接着され、垂直高さ方向に1mm間隔の目盛りが付されたアクリル製シリンダー10(内径25.4mm、高さ35.6mm、質量17.1g)からなる装置2の内部に、0.20gの吸水性樹脂粒子15を均一に散布し、シリンダー上部にアクリル製ピストン17(装置3:内径25.2mm、質量5.6g)を載置した。なお、シリンダー10の側壁13は、内部が目視で確認できるようになっている。装置2を装置1の上に載置すると同時に、ストップウォッチをスタートさせ(t=0分)、吸水性樹脂粒子15に吸水させた(図1(a))。すなわち吸水性樹脂粒子15は、イオン交換水3により、自重の30倍に膨潤させられる。

(1)吸収体及び吸収性物品の作製
実施例及び比較例で得られた吸水性樹脂粒子を用いて、吸収体及び吸収性物品を作製した。坪量12g/m2のスパンボンド−メルトブローン−メルトブローン−スパンボンド(SMMS)不織布(16cm×5cm)に吸水性樹脂粒子0.52gを均一散布した後、同サイズのSMMS不織布で上部から挟みつけることにより、シート状の吸収体を作製した。さらに、吸収体の上面に、該吸収体と同じ大きさで、坪量22g/m2のポリエチレン−ポリプロピレン製エアスルー型多孔質液体透過性シートを配置し、同じ大きさで同じ坪量のポリエチレン製液体不透過性シートを吸収体の下面に配置して、吸収体を挟みつけることにより、吸水性樹脂粒子の坪量が65g/m2である吸収性物品を得た。
水平の実験台上に吸収性物品を載置した。液投入口の開度を流速8mL/秒に調整した100mL−滴下漏斗を、吸収性物品の中心部から高さ1.5cm上部に液投入口に位置するよう設置した後、滴下漏斗上部から15mLのイオン交換水を一度に投入した。投入から1分後に滴下漏斗を取り除き、パネリストが吸収性物品の上面を指で軽く数回押し、その際に感じられる弾力性(押し戻される感覚)を下記基準にしたがって評価した。パネリストは5名(A〜E)にて実施し、平均値を吸収性物品の弾力性とした。結果を表2に示す。
5点:弾力性が非常に高い。
4点:弾力性が比較的高い。
3点:弾力性が許容レベルである。
2点:弾力性が低い。
1点:弾力性が認められない。

- 生理食塩水の保水量が15〜39g/gである、請求項1又は2に記載の吸水性樹脂粒子。
