Abstract
Description
正極と負極とから構成される電極巻回体を有して成り、平面視にて非矩形状を有する二次電池を製造する方法であって、
セパレータを介して正極前駆体と負極前駆体とを互いに積層して電極前駆積層体を形成し、その電極前駆積層体を巻回して電極巻回体を形成しており、
電極前駆積層体が平面視にて櫛歯形状を有し、巻回の巻回軸が二次電池の端子要素の延在方向と略平行となるように巻回を行って電極巻回体の平面視形状を非矩形状とすることを特徴とする。
正極、負極および正極と負極との間のセパレータとから構成される電極巻回体、ならびに、その電極巻回体を包み込む外装体を有して成る二次電池であって、
二次電池の平面視形状が非矩形状となっており、
電極巻回体は、正極、負極およびセパレータが一体的に巻回されている巻回構造を有し、二次電池の端子要素の延在方向が巻回構造の巻回軸に対して略平行となっていることを特徴とする。
本発明は“二次電池”に関し、また、“二次電池の製造方法”にも関する。本明細書でいう「二次電池」とは、充電・放電の繰り返しが可能な電池のことを指している。従って、本発明の製造方法で得られる二次電池は、その名称に過度に拘泥されるものでなく、例えば“蓄電デバイス”なども対象に含まれ得る。
本発明は、二次電池およびその製造方法に関する。説明の便宜上、「本発明の製造方法」を説明した後で「本発明の二次電池」を説明する。
本発明の製造方法は、製造される電池形状が特異な形状であるところ、電池前駆体およびその前駆体に対して施す製造手法に特徴を有している。特に、特異な電池形状ならびに電池の外部端子に鑑みた電極前駆積層体およびその巻回手法に特徴を有している。
本発明の製造方法では、電極前駆積層体につき、電極外部端子と直接的に接続される部分は、いずれの箇所であってもよい。つまり、電極前駆積層体において端子要素はいずれの箇所に設けられていてよい。それゆえ、“櫛歯形状”に関して複数の幅狭部分のいずれかに端子要素が設けられてよく、あるいは、複数の幅広部分のいずれかに端子要素が設けられてよい。電極の外部端子は、正極および負極でそれぞれ1つで足りるので、正極のための端子要素が電極前駆積層体の正極前駆体のいずれの箇所に設けられてよく、負極のための端子要素も同様にして電極前駆積層体の負極前駆体のいずれの箇所に設けられてよい。
本発明の製造方法では、端子要素としてリードが含まれていてよい。つまり、電池外部との電気的接続に供する“電池構成部材として導電性のリード”が電極前駆積層体に設けられてよく、巻回軸がリードの延在方向と略平行となる条件で巻回を行ってよい。例えば、リードを電極前駆積層体の“幅狭部分”に対して設けてよい。また、電極前駆積層体が長尺形状を有する場合、かかる長尺形状の長手方向と略直交するようにリードを設けてよい。
次に、本発明の二次電池について説明する。本発明の二次電池は、上述の製造方法で得られる電池に相当する。それゆえ、本発明の二次電池は、特異な電池形状ならびに外部端子の設置位置と関連した特異な電極巻回構造に特徴を有している。

Claims (18)
- 正極と負極とから構成される電極巻回体を有して成り、平面視にて非矩形状を有する二次電池を製造する方法であって、
セパレータを介して正極前駆体と負極前駆体とを互いに積層して電極前駆積層体を形成し、該電極前駆積層体を巻回して前記電極巻回体を形成しており、
前記電極前駆積層体が平面視にて櫛歯形状を有し、前記巻回の巻回軸が前記二次電池の端子要素の延在方向と略平行となるように該巻回を行い、該電極巻回体の平面視形状を非矩形状とする、二次電池の製造方法。 - 前記櫛歯形状における幅狭部分および幅広部分のそれぞれの中間が前記巻回の曲げ箇所となるように該巻回を行う、請求項1に記載の二次電池の製造方法。
- 前記電極巻回体の全体的な立体形状を扁平状にする、請求項1または2に記載の二次電池の製造方法。
- 前記電極前駆積層体が長尺形状を有し、該長尺形状の長手方向と前記端子要素の延在方向とが互いに略直交する、請求項1〜3のいずれかに記載の二次電池の製造方法。
- 前記電極前駆積層体において前記端子要素が前記櫛歯形状の幅狭部分に設けられる、請求項1〜4のいずれかに記載の二次電池の製造方法。
- 前記端子要素が前記電極前駆積層体の端部に位置し、該端部が前記巻回の始点となるように該巻回を行う、請求項1〜5のいずれかに記載の二次電池の製造方法。
- 前記端子要素としてリードが含まれ、該リードが前記電極前駆積層体の前記端部に設けられる、請求項6に記載の二次電池の製造方法。
- 前記正極前駆体および前記負極前駆体の少なくとも一方の電極前駆体において電極活物質を電極集電体に局所的に供さないことで非活物質エリアを形成し、該非活物質エリアに前記リードを接続する、請求項7に記載の二次電池の製造方法。
- 前記リードとして前記正極のための正極リードおよび前記負極のための負極リードが用いられており、
前記電極前駆積層体では、前記正極リードと前記負極リードとが該電極前駆積層体の積層方向において互いに対向せず、該電極前駆積層体の平面視にて互いに隣接する位置関係を有する、請求項7または8に記載の二次電池の製造方法。 - 前記正極および前記負極が、リチウムイオンを吸蔵放出可能な層を有することを特徴とする、請求項1〜9のいずれかに記載の二次電池の製造方法。
- 正極、負極および該正極と該負極との間のセパレータとから構成される電極巻回体、ならびに、該電極巻回体を包み込む外装体を有して成る二次電池であって、
前記二次電池の平面視形状が非矩形状となっており、
前記電極巻回体は、前記正極、前記負極および前記セパレータが一体的に巻回されている巻回構造を有し、前記二次電池の端子要素の延在方向が該巻回構造の巻回軸に対して略平行となっている、二次電池。 - 前記巻回構造の巻回始点の領域から前記端子要素が延在している、請求項11に記載の二次電池。
- 前記二次電池の全体的な立体形状が扁平状となっている、請求項11または12に記載の二次電池。
- 前記端子要素が前記二次電池の厚みの中間レベルに位置付けられている、請求項11〜13のいずれかに記載の二次電池。
- 前記電極巻回体に用いられている前記正極、前記負極および前記セパレータの各々が、非巻回の状態で櫛歯形状を有する、請求項11〜14のいずれかに記載の二次電池。
- 前記端子要素として前記正極および前記負極のそれぞれの外部端子が互いに隣接して前記二次電池の同一面に設けられている、請求項11〜15のいずれかに記載の二次電池。
- 前記同一面が、前記非矩形状を成す電池切欠き部の電池側面に相当する、請求項16に記載の二次電池。
- 前記正極および前記負極が、リチウムイオンを吸蔵放出可能な層を有することを特徴とする、請求項12〜17のいずれかに記載の二次電池。
