この発明は、合成樹脂製シートを重ねて接合する超音波接合装置のホーン側もしくはアンビル側に用いられる凸部を備えた超音波接合用工具の改良に関する。
背景技術

特許文献1には、リチウムイオン二次電池のような積層型電池における正極・負極間のセパレータとして、ポリプロピレン等の合成樹脂層の一方の面にセラミックス粒子からなる耐熱層を設けたシート状のセパレータを用い、かつ2枚のセパレータの間に一方の電極例えば正極を挟んだ状態として、セパレータの周縁を接合することで、いわゆる袋詰電極を構成することが開示されている。

正極を挟む2枚のセパレータは、各々の耐熱層が互いに対面するように配置され、周縁の複数箇所で加熱接合されて袋状のセパレータとなる。ここで、セラミックス粒子からなる耐熱層が介在すると、合成樹脂層の熱融着が困難となるので、特許文献1では、セパレータの周縁に、セラミックス等の耐熱材料をゼロあるいは少なくした耐熱層レス部を設け、この耐熱層レス部同士を加熱接合するようにしている。

このように、耐熱層を有するセパレータ同士を加熱接合する方法では、耐熱層レス部の形成が必要となる。

一方、積層型電池の製造において電極タブと正極・負極の集電体との接合に一般に用いられている超音波接合を上記のようなシート状セパレータの接合に適用したとすると、ホーンもしくはアンビルの少なくとも一方に設けられるローレット状の凸部に、溶融した樹脂材料が貼り付いてしまう、という問題がある。

Claims (9)
- 合成樹脂製シートを重ねて接合する超音波接合装置のホーン側もしくはアンビル側に用いられ、上記シートと接触する超音波接合用工具において、
この超音波接合用工具は、平坦な頂面を有する四角錐形状をなす凸部が複数配列されており、
各々の凸部は、4つの側面の中の互いに対向する2つの側面がなす頂角が、90°よりも大きい角度である、
超音波接合用工具。 - 上記頂角が110°〜130°の範囲内にある、請求項1に記載の超音波接合用工具。
- 上記頂角が120°である、請求項2に記載の超音波接合用工具。
- 上記凸部は、平坦な頂面を有する正四角錐形状をなす、請求項1〜3のいずれかに記載の超音波接合用工具。
- 複数個の凸部は、隣接する2つの凸部の間に生じるV字形溝が直線状に連続するように配列されている、請求項1〜4のいずれかに記載の超音波接合用工具。
- 上記ホーン側に用いられ、
上記凸部の底辺により形成される四角形の一つの対角方向が、該ホーンの振動方向に沿っている、請求項1〜5のいずれかに記載の超音波接合用工具。 - 少なくとも上記凸部の表面に、非粘着性コーティングを備えている、請求項1〜6のいずれかに記載の超音波接合用工具。
- ワークとして、一層もしくは複数層の熱可塑性合成樹脂層の一方の表面に耐熱層を備えた合成樹脂製シートを、耐熱層同士が対面するように2枚重ねて接合する、請求項1〜7のいずれかに記載の超音波接合用工具。
- 上記ワークが、バッテリセルの袋状セパレータである、請求項8に記載の超音波接合用工具。
