Abstract
Description
複数の第1の電極が並行に設けられた第1の基板と,前記第1の電極と交差して画素を形成する複数の第2の電極が並行に設けられた第2の基板と,前記第1及び第2の基板間に形成され書き込み状態に応じて所定の波長の光を反射または透過もしくは吸収する材料層とを有する表示パネルと,
前記第1,第2の電極をそれぞれ駆動する第1,第2の駆動回路と,
前記第1,第2の駆動回路の駆動制御を行う駆動制御回路とを有し,
前記第1または第2の駆動回路が,表示画像の書き換え時において,前記第1または第2の電極の隣接する複数本の電極群にリセットパルスを印加しながら,当該複数本の電極群を走査して当該電極群の画素をリセットし,
さらに,前記駆動制御回路は,前記第1または第2の駆動回路による前記複数本の電極群の走査方向を変更制御することを特徴とする表示装置である。
複数の第1の電極が並行に設けられた第1の基板と,前記第1の電極と交差して画素を形成する複数の第2の電極が並行に設けられた第2の基板と,前記第1及び第2の基板間に形成され書き込み状態に応じて所定の波長の光を反射または透過する材料層とを有する表示パネルと,
前記第1,第2の電極をそれぞれ駆動する第1,第2の駆動回路と,
前記第1,第2の駆動回路の駆動制御を行う駆動制御回路とを有し,
前記第1または第2の駆動回路が,表示画像の書き換え時において,前記第1または第2の電極の隣接する複数本の電極群にリセットパルスを印加しながら,当該複数本の電極群を走査して当該電極群の画素をリセットし,
さらに,前記所定の波長の光がそれぞれ異なる複数の前記表示パネルが互いに積層され,前記反射層が前記複数の表示パネルの最下パネルの第2の基板側に設けられ,
前記複数の表示パネルの駆動制御回路は,第1の表示パネルにおける前記複数本の電極群の走査方向と,第2の表示パネルにおける前記複数本の電極群の走査方向とが異なるように前記第1または第2の駆動回路を制御することを特徴とする表示装置である。
複数の第1の電極が並行に設けられた第1の基板と,前記第1の電極と交差して画素を形成する複数の第2の電極が並行に設けられた第2の基板と,前記第1及び第2の基板間に形成され書き込み状態に応じて所定の波長の光を反射または透過する材料層とを有する表示パネルと,

前記第1または第2の駆動回路が,表示画像の書き換え時において,前記第1または第2の電極の隣接する複数本の電極群にリセットパルスを印加しながら,当該複数本の電極群を走査して当該電極群の画素をリセットし,
さらに,前記所定の波長の光がそれぞれ異なる複数の前記表示パネルが互いに積層され,前記反射層が前記複数の表示パネルの最下パネルの第2の基板側に設けられ,
前記複数の表示パネルの駆動制御回路は,第1の表示パネルにおける前記複数本の電極群の走査のタイミングと,第2の表示パネルにおける前記複数本の電極群の走査のタイミングとが異なるように前記第1または第2の駆動回路を制御することを特徴とする表示装置である。

- 複数の第1の電極が並行に設けられた第1の基板と,前記第1の電極と交差して画素を形成する複数の第2の電極が並行に設けられた第2の基板と,前記第1及び第2の基板間に形成され書き込み状態に応じて所定の波長の光を反射または透過もしくは吸収する材料層とを有する表示パネルと,
前記第1,第2の電極をそれぞれ駆動する第1,第2の駆動回路と,
前記第1,第2の駆動回路の駆動制御を行う駆動制御回路とを有し,
前記第1または第2の駆動回路が,表示画像の書き換え時において,前記第1または第2の電極の隣接する複数本の電極群にリセットパルスを印加しながら,当該複数本の電極群を走査して当該電極群の画素をリセットし,
さらに,前記駆動制御回路は,前記第1または第2の駆動回路による前記複数本の電極群の走査方向を変更制御することを特徴とする表示装置。 - 複数の第1の電極が並行に設けられた第1の基板と,前記第1の電極と交差して画素を形成する複数の第2の電極が並行に設けられた第2の基板と,前記第1及び第2の基板間に形成され書き込み状態に応じて所定の波長の光を反射または透過する材料層とを有する表示パネルと,
前記第1,第2の電極をそれぞれ駆動する第1,第2の駆動回路と,
前記第1,第2の駆動回路の駆動制御を行う駆動制御回路とを有し,
前記第1または第2の駆動回路が,表示画像の書き換え時において,前記第1または第2の電極の隣接する複数本の電極群にリセットパルスを印加しながら,当該複数本の電極群を走査して当該電極群の画素をリセットし,
さらに,前記所定の波長の光がそれぞれ異なる複数の前記表示パネルが互いに積層され,前記反射層が前記複数の表示パネルの最下パネルの第2の基板側に設けられ,
前記複数の表示パネルの駆動制御回路は,第1の表示パネルにおける前記複数本の電極群の走査方向と,第2の表示パネルにおける前記複数本の電極群の走査方向とが異なるように前記第1または第2の駆動回路を制御することを特徴とする表示装置。 - 複数の第1の電極が並行に設けられた第1の基板と,前記第1の電極と交差して画素を形成する複数の第2の電極が並行に設けられた第2の基板と,前記第1及び第2の基板間に形成され書き込み状態に応じて所定の波長の光を反射または透過する材料層とを有する表示パネルと,
前記第1,第2の電極をそれぞれ駆動する第1,第2の駆動回路と,
前記第1,第2の駆動回路の駆動制御を行う駆動制御回路とを有し,
前記第1または第2の駆動回路が,表示画像の書き換え時において,前記第1または第2の電極の隣接する複数本の電極群にリセットパルスを印加しながら,当該複数本の電極群を走査して当該電極群の画素をリセットし,
さらに,前記所定の波長の光がそれぞれ異なる複数の前記表示パネルが互いに積層され,前記反射層が前記複数の表示パネルの最下パネルの第2の基板側に設けられ,
前記複数の表示パネルの駆動制御回路は,第1の表示パネルにおける前記複数本の電極群の走査のタイミングと,第2の表示パネルにおける前記複数本の電極群の走査のタイミングとが異なるように前記第1または第2の駆動回路を制御することを特徴とする表示装置。 - 請求項1または2のいずれかにおいて,
前記駆動制御回路は,前記第1または第2の駆動回路による前記複数本の電極群の走査方向を,表示画像の属性に応じて切り換えることを特徴とする表示装置。 - 請求項4において,
前記駆動制御回路は,表示画像の書き換え後の文字が縦書きの場合は,前記複数本の電極群の走査方向を横方向に制御し,表示画像の書き換え後の文字が横書きの場合は,前記複数本の電極群の走査方向を縦方向に制御することを特徴とする表示装置。 - 請求項1〜3のいずれかにおいて,
前記駆動制御回路は,前記第1または第2の駆動回路による前記複数本の電極群の走査方向または走査のタイミングを,ユーザによる設定値に応じて切り換えることを特徴とする表示装置。 - 請求項1〜3のいずれかにおいて,
前記駆動制御回路は,前記第1または第2の駆動回路による前記複数本の電極群の走査方向または走査のタイミングをランダムに切り換えることを特徴とする表示装置。 - 請求項1〜3のいずれかにおいて,
前記駆動制御回路は,画素毎の表示画像データを,前記走査方向に応じた駆動画像データに変換するデータ変換回路を有することを特徴とする表示装置。 - 請求項2または3において,
前記複数の表示パネルと,第1の原色用表示パネルと,第2の原色用表示パネルと,第3の原色用表示パネルとを有する表示装置。 - 請求項1〜3のいずれかにおいて,
前記材料層が,コレステリック液晶,カイラルネマティック液晶,電子粉流体表示材料,電気泳動表示材料のいずれかであることを特徴とする表示装置。
