Abstract

包装機及び包装方法は、切断装置のナイフによる誘導加熱への悪影響を未然に防止し、また、ナイフの不都合及びその不都合による内容物の漏れを監視して包装充填機械をコントロールすることを可能にする【解決手段】包装機は、包装材料同志を互いにシールするヒートシール装置及び包装材料を導電性ナイフで切断する切断装置を有する包装機であって、導電性材料層に印加される高周波電流を発生させる誘導加熱装置からの出力をモニターした位相角として検知する位相角検知手段、及び検知した位相角データに基づき切断装置を監視するナイフモニターを有するように構成したものである。

Description

本発明は、ジュースや牛乳などの液体食品などを充填した紙容器などに包装材料から包装・充填する包装機及び包装方法に関する。
液体食品などを充填した紙容器を得る包装充填装置は、図3及び図4に示すように、通常、低密度ポリエチレンなどの熱可塑性材料シーラント層とアルミ箔などの導電性材料層と紙などの繊維材料支持層とが積層されたウェブ状包装材料1を準備し、この包装材料1を筒状に形成し、その筒の中に液体食品を充填し、その筒状包装材料を外からそれぞれ2本の並列したシールジョー2、2とカウンタージョー3、3とで挟んで互いに重ね合わせて、シールジョーとカウンタージョーとで挟持しながら包装材料を引き下げながら、誘導加熱装置によって、シールジョーから高周波電流を導電性材料層に印加して熱可塑性材料シーラント層を加熱溶融して、包装材料同志を所定間隔毎に互いにシールし、そのシール包装材料を所定間隔毎にナイフ4で切断し、シールジョーとカウンタージョーとが包装材料から離れ、図4の矢印に示すように、それぞれ上方に戻り、下に落下する容器5を得、この容器のフラップ部分を折り畳んで最終形状に成形する。
この誘導加熱装置は、例えば、3φ200Vなどの電源をいったん直流に変換し、電子管やサイリスタ、MOSFET、IGBTなどの素子により数100Hz〜数MHzの高周波エネルギーを発生させる高周波電源と、高周波電源で発生した高周波エネルギーを、負荷であるコイルに必要な電圧・電流に合わせる「整合」を受け持つ整合部とからなる。
上記包装充填装置においては、シールジョーがこの誘導加熱装置のコイルに相当する。
コイルのシールジョーに高周波電流を流すことにより発生した磁束が、ウェブ状包装材料のアルミ箔導電性材料層の導電体と交差すると、導電体内に高周波の循環電流(渦電流)が誘起し、この電流が導電体の固有抵抗にしたがって流れ、発熱を起こす。
上記のシール装置のシールジョーに突条を設けて良好なシール帯域を得、このシール帯域を切断する装置が提案されている。(特許文献1参照)
シールした包装材料を所定間隔毎にナイフで切断する切断装置は、シールジョーとカウンタージョーで挟持したままヒートシールし、引く続いてナイフを、図4の矢印に示すような往復運動、若しくは回転運動させて包装材料を切断する。

上記従来技術では、切断装置と誘導加熱装置とがそれらの動作に関して連動する様の設定されている。すなわち、加熱し冷却してシールを完了した後ただちに、ナイフによる切断が行われる。しかしながら、金属製の導電性ナイフがシールすべき包装材料の導電性材料層の近傍に存在しながら誘導加熱を行うと、シールジョーから発生した磁束が導電性ナイフとも交差して、誘導加熱の条件を狂わせ、良好なシールを得ることができない恐れがある。
しかも、ナイフ駆動手段の故障等によってナイフが突出して切断モードの位置に留まり、発生磁束がナイフとも交差して誘導加熱の出力を狂わせ、良好にシールされていないにもかかわらず、ナイフにって切断されることによって、内容物が不良シールから漏れる恐れさえある。
本発明は、切断装置のナイフによる誘導加熱への悪影響を未然に防止し、また、ナイフの不都合及びその不都合による内容物の漏れを監視して包装充填機械をコントロールすることを可能にする包装機及び包装方法を提供することを目的とする。
この課題を解決する本発明の包装機は、熱可塑性材料シーラント層と導電性材料層と繊維材料支持層とが積層された長尺の包装材料を互いに重ね合わせて、シールジョーから高周波電流を導電性材料層に印加して熱可塑性材料シーラント層を加熱溶融して、包装材料同志を所定間隔毎に互いにシールするヒートシール装置及びシールされた包装材料を所定間隔毎にナイフで切断する切断装置を有する包装機であって、
切断装置のナイフがシールされた包装材料部分を切断する導電性ナイフであって、
導電性材料層に印加される高周波電流を発生させる誘導加熱装置からの出力をモニターした位相角として検知する位相角検知手段、及び
検知した位相角データに基づき切断装置を監視するナイフモニター
を有することを特徴とする。
この発明の包装方法は、熱可塑性材料シーラント層と導電性材料層と繊維材料支持層とが積層された長尺の包装材料を互いに重ね合わせて、ヒートシール装置によって、高周波電流を導電性材料層にシールジョーから印加して熱可塑性材料シーラント層を加熱溶融して、包装材料同志を所定間隔毎に互いにシールし、シールされた包装材料を所定間隔毎に切断装置のナイフで切断する方法であって、
切断装置の導電性ナイフでシールされた包装材料部分を切断し、
導電性材料層に印加される高周波電流を発生させる誘導加熱装置からの出力を位相角検知手段でモニターした位相角として検知し、
検知した位相角データに基づきナイフモニターで切断装置を監視する
を有することを特徴とする。
以上のように本発明によれば、以下の作用動作によって有利な効果が得られる。
ポリエチレン、ポリプロピレン、ポリエステルなどの熱可塑性材料シーラント層とアルミ箔などの導電性材料層と紙などの繊維材料支持層と、好ましくは熱可塑性材料外層とが積層された例えばウェブ状の包装材料を準備する。この包装材料をチューブ状に形成し、そのチューブ中に液体食品を充填し、その筒状包装材料を外からシールジョーとカウンタージョーとで挟んで互いに重ね合わせる。シールジョーとカウンタージョーとで挟持しながら包装材料を引き下げる。
誘導加熱装置によって、コイルのシールジョーに高周波電流を流すことにより発生した磁束が、ウェブ状包装材料のアルミ箔導電性材料層の導電体と交差し、導電体内に高周波の渦電流が誘起し、導電体の固有抵抗にしたがって発熱を起こす。導電性材料層が加熱して熱可塑性材料シーラント層を加熱溶融する。
この加熱に際して、導電性材料層に印加される高周波電流を発生させる誘導加熱装置からの出力を位相角検知手段でモニターした位相角として検知する。
誘導加熱装置の出力電力及び出力電流など出力は、金属製導電性ナイフがシールすべき包装材料の導電性材料層の近傍に存在しながら誘導加熱した場合でも、モニターされるデータとしては大きく変動せず、ナイフの位置異常を現さない。意外にも、位相角はシールジョーから発生した磁束が導電性ナイフとも交差して誘導加熱の変化を顕著に現す。
この発明において、検知した位相角データに基づきナイフモニターで切断装置を監視する。すなわち、位相角データが異常である場合、包装機の一時停止、操作員への異常発生警報など措置を執ることを可能にする。
異常でない場合、包装材料同志を所定間隔毎に互いにシールし、切断装置がそのシール包装材料を所定間隔毎にナイフで切断して容器を得、必要に応じて、この容器のフラップ部分を折り畳んで最終形状に成形する。
以下、本発明の実施の形態について図面を参照しながら詳細に説明する。
図3は、この発明の包装機及び包装方法に用いることができる包装充填システムの一形態の概略図である。
この形態において、ウェブ状包装材料のリール1aからウェブ状包装材料1を繰り出し、このウェブ状包装材料1をチューブ状に成形し、そのチューブ状包装材料1b内に充填パイプ31から液体食品等の内容物を充填する。
その包装材料を外側からシールジョー2とカウンタージョー3(図示せず)とで挟んで互いに重ね合わせ、誘導加熱装置によって、熱可塑性材料シーラント層を加熱溶融し、所定間隔毎に互いにシールしする。次いで、ナイフ4で切断して容器5を得、必要に応じて、この容器のフラップ部分を折り畳んで最終形状に成形する。
図1は、この発明の包装機及び包装方法に用いることができる包装充填システムの一形態における誘導加熱装置及び切断装置の概略断面図である。
この形態では、チューブ状包装材料1を外からそれぞれ2本の並列したシールジョー2、2とカウンタージョー3、3とで挟んで互いに重ね合わせて、誘導加熱装置(図示せず)によって、シールジョーから高周波の磁束を発生させて、包装材料1の導電性材料層を加熱して熱可塑性材料シーラント層を加熱溶融する。次いで、シールされた2本の包材箇所の間を切断装置のナイフ4で切断する。
図2は、この発明の包装機及び包装方法に用いることができる包装充填システムの一形態における誘導加熱装置及び切断装置の動作を説明する為の概略断面図である。
この形態では、チューブ状包装材料1を外からそれぞれ2本の並列したシールジョー2、2とカウンタージョー3、3とで挟んで互いに重ね合わせて、誘導加熱装置21によって、シールジョー2、2から高周波の磁場20a,20bを発生させて、包装材料1の導電性材料層を加熱して熱可塑性材料シーラント層を加熱溶融する。
図2の上半分と下半分とは、ナイフ4の位置が異なる。図2の上半分は、ナイフが正常な位置にある状態、すなわち、誘導加熱時にナイフが後退して包装材料の近傍に無い状態を示す。他方、下半分は、ナイフが正常でない位置に留まっている状態、すなわち、誘導加熱時にナイフがナイフ駆動装置の故障などにより包装材料切断モードの位置に留まったままの状態を示す。
図2の上半分と下半分の動作を説明して本発明を詳細に説明する。
図2の上半分に関しては、誘導加熱装置21が高周波エネルギーをコイルのシールジョー2aに印可し、シールジョーに高周波電流を流すことにより発生した磁界20aが、ウェブ状包装材料のアルミ箔層の導電体と交差し高周波の渦電流を誘起して発熱を起こす。
これに対して、図2の下半分では、誘導加熱装置21が高周波エネルギーをコイルのシールジョー2bに印可し、シールジョーに高周波電流を流すことにより磁界20bを発生させる。しかし、近傍に導電性ナイフ4があるために、ナイフ4にも磁界が及び、磁界の分布、強度などが正常な場合と相違する。なお、図2の上半分と下半分との磁界20aと20bとは、理解の為に相違する形状に図解されているが、実際の磁界と異なる。
近傍の導電性ナイフ4の存在による誘導加熱への影響は、誘導加熱装置21から高周波エネルギー、高周波電流の位相角の変動として顕著に現れる。この変化を位相角検知手段22でモニターした位相角として検知しする。
この形態において、検知した位相角データに基づきナイフの異常正常を判定して、ナイフモニター(図示せず)で切断装置を監視する。すなわち、位相角データが異常である場合、包装機の一時停止、操作員への異常発生警報など措置を執ることを可能にする。
上述のように、切断装置のナイフによる誘導加熱への悪影響を未然に防止し、また、ナイフの不都合及びその不都合による内容物の漏れを監視して包装充填機械をコントロールすることを可能にする。
なお、本発明は前記実施の形態に限定されるものではなく、本発明の趣旨に基づいて種々変形させることが可能であり、それらを本発明の範囲から排除するものではない。
この発明の包装機及び包装方法は、ジュースや牛乳などの液体食品などを充填した紙容器などに包装材料から包装・充填することに用いることができる。

Claims (2)

  1. 熱可塑性材料シーラント層と導電性材料層と繊維材料支持層とが積層された長尺の包装材料を互いに重ね合わせて、シールジョーから高周波電流を導電性材料層に印加して熱可塑性材料シーラント層を加熱溶融して、該包装材料同志を所定間隔毎に互いにシールするヒートシール装置及びシールされた該包装材料を所定間隔毎にナイフで切断する切断装置を有する包装機であって、
    該切断装置のナイフがシールされた包装材料部分を切断する導電性ナイフであって、
    導電性材料層に印加される高周波電流を発生させる誘導加熱装置からの出力をモニターした位相角として検知する位相角検知手段、及び
    検知した該位相角データに基づき該切断装置を監視するナイフモニター
    を有することを特徴とする包装機。
  2. 熱可塑性材料シーラント層と導電性材料層と繊維材料支持層とが積層された長尺の包装材料を互いに重ね合わせて、ヒートシール装置によって、高周波電流を導電性材料層にシールジョーから印加して熱可塑性材料シーラント層を加熱溶融して、該包装材料同志を所定間隔毎に互いにシールし、シールされた該包装材料を所定間隔毎に切断装置のナイフで切断する包装方法であって、
    該切断装置の導電性ナイフでシールされた包装材料部分を切断し、
    導電性材料層に印加される高周波電流を発生させる誘導加熱装置からの出力を位相角検知手段でモニターした位相角として検知し、
    検知した該位相角データに基づきナイフモニターで該切断装置を監視する
    を有することを特徴とする包装方法。
