Abstract

包装機及び包装方法は、切断装置のナイフによる誘導加熱への悪影響を未然に防止し、また、ナイフの不都合及びその不都合による内容物の漏れを監視して包装充填機械をコントロールすることを可能にする 【解決手段】包装機は、包装材料同志を互いにシールするヒートシール装置及び包装材料を導電性ナイフで切断する切断装置を有する包装機であって、導電性材料層に印加される高周波電流を発生させる誘導加熱装置からの出力をモニターした位相角として検知する位相角検知手段、及び検知した位相角データに基づき切断装置を監視するナイフモニターを有するように構成したものである。

明 細 書
包装機及び包装方法
技術分野
[0001] 本発明は、ジュースや牛乳などの液体食品などを充填した紙容器などに包装材料 から包装'充填する包装機及び包装方法に関する。
背景技術
[0002] 液体食品などを充填した紙容器を得る包装充填装置は、図 3及び図 4に示すように、 通常、低密度ポリエチレンなどの熱可塑性材料シーラント層とアルミ箔などの導電性 材料層と紙などの繊維材料支持層とが積層されたウェブ状包装材料 1を準備し、この 包装材料 1を筒状に形成し、その筒の中に液体食品を充填し、その筒状包装材料を 外からそれぞれ 2本の並列したシールジョー 2、 2とカウンタージョー 3、 3とで挟んで 互 ヽに重ね合わせて、シールジョ一とカウンタージョ一とで挟持しながら包装材料を 引き下げながら、誘導加熱装置によって、シールジョ一力 高周波電流を導電性材 料層に印力!]して熱可塑性材料シーラント層を加熱溶融して、包装材料同志を所定間 隔毎に互いにシールし、そのシール包装材料を所定間隔毎にナイフ 4で切断し、シ 一ルジョ一とカウンタージョ一とが包装材料力 離れ、図 4の矢印に示すように、それ ぞれ上方に戻り、下に落下する容器 5を得、この容器のフラップ部分を折り畳んで最 終形状に成形する。
[0003] この誘導加熱装置は、例えば、 3 φ 200Vなどの電源をいつたん直流に変換し、電子 管やサイリスタ、 MOSFET、 IGBTなどの素子により数 100Hz〜数 MHzの高周波ェネル ギーを発生させる高周波電源と、高周波電源で発生した高周波エネルギーを、負荷 であるコイルに必要な電圧 *電流に合わせる「整合」を受け持つ整合部とからなる。 上記包装充填装置においては、シールジョ一がこの誘導加熱装置のコイルに相当す る。
[0004] コイルのシールジョ一に高周波電流を流すことにより発生した磁束力 ウェブ状包装 材料のアルミ箔導電性材料層の導電体と交差すると、導電体内に高周波の循環電 流 (渦電流)が誘起し、この電流が導電体の固有抵抗にしたがって流れ、発熱を起こ す。
上記のシール装置のシールジョ一に突条を設けて良好なシール帯域を得、このシ ール帯域を切断する装置が提案されて 、る。(特許文献 1参照)
[0005] シールした包装材料を所定間隔毎にナイフで切断する切断装置は、シールジョー とカウンタージョ一で挟持したままヒートシールし、引く続いてナイフを、図 4の矢印に 示すような往復運動、若しくは回転運動させて包装材料を切断する。

発明の開示
発明が解決しょうとする課題
[0006] 上記従来技術では、切断装置と誘導加熱装置とがそれらの動作に関して連動する 様の設定されている。すなわち、加熱し冷却してシールを完了した後ただちに、ナイ フによる切断が行われる。し力しながら、金属製の導電性ナイフがシールすべき包装 材料の導電性材料層の近傍に存在しながら誘導加熱を行うと、シールジョ一力ゝら発 生した磁束が導電性ナイフとも交差して、誘導加熱の条件を狂わせ、良好なシール を得ることができな ヽ恐れがある。
[0007] し力も、ナイフ駆動手段の故障等によってナイフが突出して切断モードの位置に留 まり、発生磁束がナイフとも交差して誘導加熱の出力を狂わせ、良好にシールされて いないにもかかわらず、ナイフにつて切断されることによって、内容物が不良シール から漏れる恐れさえある。
[0008] 本発明は、切断装置のナイフによる誘導加熱への悪影響を未然に防止し、また、ナ ィフの不都合及びその不都合による内容物の漏れを監視して包装充填機械をコント ロールすることを可能にする包装機及び包装方法を提供することを目的とする。 課題を解決するための手段
[0009] この課題を解決する本発明の包装機は、熱可塑性材料シーラント層と導電性材料 層と繊維材料支持層とが積層された長尺の包装材料を互いに重ね合わせて、シー ルジョ一から高周波電流を導電性材料層に印カロして熱可塑性材料シーラント層をカロ 熱溶融して、包装材料同志を所定間隔毎に互いにシールするヒートシール装置及び シールされた包装材料を所定間隔毎にナイフで切断する切断装置を有する包装機 であって、
切断装置のナイフがシールされた包装材料部分を切断する導電性ナイフであって、 導電性材料層に印加される高周波電流を発生させる誘導加熱装置からの出力をモ 二ターした位相角として検知する位相角検知手段、及び
検知した位相角データに基づき切断装置を監視するナイフモニター
を有することを特徴とする。
[0010] この発明の包装方法は、熱可塑性材料シーラント層と導電性材料層と繊維材料支 持層とが積層された長尺の包装材料を互いに重ね合わせて、ヒートシール装置によ つて、高周波電流を導電性材料層にシールジョ一から印加して熱可塑性材料シーラ ント層を加熱溶融して、包装材料同志を所定間隔毎に互いにシールし、シールされ た包装材料を所定間隔毎に切断装置のナイフで切断する方法であって、 切断装置の導電性ナイフでシールされた包装材料部分を切断し、
導電性材料層に印加される高周波電流を発生させる誘導加熱装置からの出力を位 相角検知手段でモニターした位相角として検知し、
検知した位相角データに基づきナイフモニターで切断装置を監視する
を有することを特徴とする。
発明の効果
[0011] 以上のように本発明によれば、以下の作用動作によって有利な効果が得られる。
ポリエチレン、ポリプロピレン、ポリエステルなどの熱可塑性材料シーラント層とアルミ 箔などの導電性材料層と紙などの繊維材料支持層と、好ましくは熱可塑性材料外層 とが積層された例えばウェブ状の包装材料を準備する。この包装材料をチューブ状 に形成し、そのチューブ中に液体食品を充填し、その筒状包装材料を外力ゝらシール ジョ一とカウンタージョ一とで挟んで互いに重ね合わせる。シールジョ一とカウンター ジョ一とで挟持しながら包装材料を引き下げる。
[0012] 誘導加熱装置によって、コイルのシールジョ一に高周波電流を流すことにより発生し た磁束が、ウェブ状包装材料のアルミ箔導電性材料層の導電体と交差し、導電体内 に高周波の渦電流が誘起し、導電体の固有抵抗にしたがって発熱を起こす。導電性 材料層が加熱して熱可塑性材料シーラント層を加熱溶融する。 この加熱に際して、導電性材料層に印加される高周波電流を発生させる誘導加熱装 置からの出力を位相角検知手段でモニターした位相角として検知する。
誘導加熱装置の出力電力及び出力電流など出力は、金属製導電性ナイフがシール すべき包装材料の導電性材料層の近傍に存在しながら誘導加熱した場合でも、モニ ターされるデータとしては大きく変動せず、ナイフの位置異常を現さない。意外にも、 位相角はシールジョ一力 発生した磁束が導電性ナイフとも交差して誘導加熱の変 化を顕著に現す。
[0013] この発明において、検知した位相角データに基づきナイフモニターで切断装置を監 視する。すなわち、位相角データが異常である場合、包装機の一時停止、操作員へ の異常発生警報など措置を執ることを可能にする。
異常でない場合、包装材料同志を所定間隔毎に互いにシールし、切断装置がその シール包装材料を所定間隔毎にナイフで切断して容器を得、必要に応じて、この容 器のフラップ部分を折り畳んで最終形状に成形する。
発明を実施するための最良の形態
[0014] 以下、本発明の実施の形態について図面を参照しながら詳細に説明する。
図 3は、この発明の包装機及び包装方法に用いることができる包装充填システムの 一形態の概略図である。
この形態において、ウェブ状包装材料のリール laからウェブ状包装材料 1を繰り出 し、このウェブ状包装材料 1をチューブ状に成形し、そのチューブ状包装材料 lb内 に充填パイプ 31から液体食品等の内容物を充填する。
その包装材料を外側力もシールジョー 2とカウンタージョー 3 (図示せず)とで挟んで 互いに重ね合わせ、誘導加熱装置によって、熱可塑性材料シーラント層を加熱溶融 し、所定間隔毎に互いにシールしする。次いで、ナイフ 4で切断して容器 5を得、必要 に応じて、この容器のフラップ部分を折り畳んで最終形状に成形する。
[0015] 図 1は、この発明の包装機及び包装方法に用いることができる包装充填システムの 一形態における誘導加熱装置及び切断装置の概略断面図である。
この形態では、チューブ状包装材料 1を外力 それぞれ 2本の並列したシールジョ 一 2、 2とカウンタージョー 3、 3とで挟んで互いに重ね合わせて、誘導加熱装置(図示 せず)によって、シールジョ一から高周波の磁束を発生させて、包装材料 1の導電性 材料層を加熱して熱可塑性材料シーラント層を加熱溶融する。次いで、シールされ た 2本の包材箇所の間を切断装置のナイフ 4で切断する。
[0016] 図 2は、この発明の包装機及び包装方法に用いることができる包装充填システムの 一形態における誘導加熱装置及び切断装置の動作を説明する為の概略断面図で ある。
この形態では、チューブ状包装材料 1を外力 それぞれ 2本の並列したシールジョ 一 2、 2とカウンタージョー 3、 3とで挟んで互いに重ね合わせて、誘導加熱装置 21に よって、シールジョー 2、 2から高周波の磁場 20a, 20bを発生させて、包装材料 1の 導電性材料層を加熱して熱可塑性材料シーラント層を加熱溶融する。
図 2の上半分と下半分とは、ナイフ 4の位置が異なる。図 2の上半分は、ナイフが正常 な位置にある状態、すなわち、誘導加熱時にナイフが後退して包装材料の近傍に無 い状態を示す。他方、下半分は、ナイフが正常でない位置に留まっている状態、すな わち、誘導加熱時にナイフがナイフ駆動装置の故障などにより包装材料切断モード の位置に留まったままの状態を示す。
[0017] 図 2の上半分と下半分の動作を説明して本発明を詳細に説明する。
図 2の上半分に関しては、誘導加熱装置 21が高周波エネルギーをコイルのシールジ ョー 2aに印可し、シールジョ一に高周波電流を流すことにより発生した磁界 20aが、ゥ エブ状包装材料のアルミ箔層の導電体と交差し高周波の渦電流を誘起して発熱を起 こす。
これに対して、図 2の下半分では、誘導加熱装置 21が高周波エネルギーをコイル のシールジョー 2bに印可し、シールジョ一に高周波電流を流すことにより磁界 20bを 発生させる。しかし、近傍に導電性ナイフ 4があるために、ナイフ 4にも磁界が及び、 磁界の分布、強度などが正常な場合と相違する。なお、図 2の上半分と下半分との磁 界 20aと 20bとは、理解の為に相違する形状に図解されている力 実際の磁界と異な る。
近傍の導電性ナイフ 4の存在による誘導加熱への影響は、誘導加熱装置 21から高 周波エネルギー、高周波電流の位相角の変動として顕著に現れる。この変化を位相 角検知手段 22でモニターした位相角として検知しする。
[0018] この形態において、検知した位相角データに基づきナイフの異常正常を判定して、 ナイフモニター(図示せず)で切断装置を監視する。すなわち、位相角データが異常 である場合、包装機の一時停止、操作員への異常発生警報など措置を執ることを可 能にする。
上述のように、切断装置のナイフによる誘導加熱への悪影響を未然に防止し、また、 ナイフの不都合及びその不都合による内容物の漏れを監視して包装充填機械をコン トロールすることを可能にする。
[0019] なお、本発明は前記実施の形態に限定されるものではなぐ本発明の趣旨に基づい て種々変形させることが可能であり、それらを本発明の範囲から排除するものではな い。
産業上の利用可能性
[0020] この発明の包装機及び包装方法は、ジュースや牛乳などの液体食品などを充填した 紙容器などに包装材料力も包装'充填することに用いることができる。

検知した該位相角データに基づき該切断装置を監視するナイフモニター
