Abstract

PURPOSE:To eliminate the need of a receptacle and to obtain an optical function element at a low cost by providing a latch part fitted to a claw part provided on a detaining piece of a plug, not on the receptacle but on the surface of the optical function element. CONSTITUTION:As for an optical function element 11, an optical function pellet 214 is attached to a lead frame 212, said element is enclosed and formed with a resin of an epoxy compound, and on the surface of the resin, a latch part 111 is provided. Also, on a plug 12 for supporting a plastic fiber 13, a detaining piece 121 provided wit a claw part 122 is provided, the claw part 122 and the latch part 111 are fitted, the tip of the fiber abuts on the surface of the resin corresponding to a position of the optical function element pellet 214, and the plastic fiber 13 and the optical function element are connected optically. In this regard, it is also possible to provide a lens part 213 on the surface of the resin and to connect it efficiently and optically. In such a way, a receptacle becomes unnecessary, and the optical function element is obtained at a low cost.
