Abstract

PURPOSE:To eliminate the misalignment between the front end face of a fiber and the lens of an optical function element at the time of connection by forming at least a part of the front end of the fiber to a concave face and combining the convex part of the lens of the optical function element with this concave face. CONSTITUTION:Correct positioning of the plastic fiber 6 the entire front end surface of which is polished to the shape of a concave lens and the optical function element 4 is executed when the convex lens part 3 of said function fits snugly into the concave lens-shaped concave face of said fiber. A receptacle 5 attached with the optical function element 4 and a plug 7 attached with the plastic fiber 6 are coupled in this state. The positioning at the time of connecting the optical function element 4 and the plastic fiber 6 is executed by fitting and combining of not only the receptacle 5 and the plug 7 but also the convex lens part 3 provided on the surface of the optical function element 4 and the concave part in the front end part of the fiber in such a manner and, therefore, the clatter by the dimensional error which is unavoidable as far as resin molded articles are used is decreased.
