Abstract
PURPOSE:To produce a superconductor which exhibits superconductivity above the b.p. of liquid N2 by compression molding a powder mixture of specified three elements and calcining then the molded product in oxidizing atmosphere. CONSTITUTION:Working powder is prepd. by precalcining a powder mixture consisting of powder consisting primarily of at least two kinds of element including Y selected from a group (A1) consisting of Y, Er, Sc, La, Nd, Sm, Eu, Gd, Dy, Ho, Tm, Yb, and Lu, and powder consisting primarily of at least two kinds of element including Ba selected from a group (A2) consisting of Ba, Ca, and Sr, and powder consisting primarily of at least one kind selected from a group (A3) consisting of Cu, Zn, Ni, Co, Fe, Pd, Ag, and Cd, at a temp. below the final calcination temp., and pulverizing then the precalcined product. Said working powder is then mixed with powder consisting primarily of residual elements, and the mixture is compression-molded, and the molded product is calcined finally at 950-1,200 deg.C in oxidizing atmosphere. Thus, a superconductor consisting of a sintered body having K2NiF4 structure contg. rhombic structure is obtd. wherein said sintered body consists of A1, A2, A3 and O, and each content of A1, A2 and A3 is defined by the inequalities: 10<=A1<=60 atomic %, 20<=A2<=50 atomic %, and 30<=A3<=65 atomic %.
