Abstract
PURPOSE:To produce a superconductor exhibiting superconductivity at above the b.p. of liquid N2 by compression-molding a powder mixture contg. specified three kinds of element, then calcining the molded body in oxidizing atmosphere. CONSTITUTION:A powder mixture is obtd. by mixing plural kinds of powder consisting primarily of either two kinds among three kinds of element selected from A1 (at least one kind selected from Y, Er, Sc, La, Nd, Sm, Eu, Gd, Dy, Ho, Tm, Yb and Lu), A2 (at least two kinds of element including Ba selected from Ba, Ca, and Sr), and A3 (at least one kind of element selected from Cu, Zn, Ni, Co, Fe, Pb, Ag, and Cd). After precalcining the powder mixture at a temp. below the final calcination temp., the precalcined product is pulverized to obtain working powder. Obtd. working powder is mixed with powder consisting primarily of element which has not been selected in the first mixing stage to obtain thus a powder mixture, which is compression-molded and calcined at 950-1,200 deg.C in oxidizing atmosphere to obtain a superconductor consisting of A1, A2, A3 and O component (wherein each content of A1, A2 and A3 is defined by the inequalities: 10<=A1<=60, 20<=A2<=50, 30<=A3<=65 atomic %), having also K2NiF4 structure contg. rhombic crystals.
